Cow Burps Produce One-Quarter Of Methane In US Every Year

Dwayne, next it be human flatulence which will put Mexican restaurants out of buisness. They will have to increase a Special tax on broccoli and pork and beans. Haven't you noticed they took the fire cook out scene in Blazing Saddles out. That was politically incorrect to show. This is just some of that change they want, wind and solar, no nuclear but they want energy that won't power America, yep thats change. By the way, no drilling, we will just buy from other countries like we are doing now. If wind and solar are so great, why is there no public utilty putting them in? Answer, they cannot make a dime off them unless they burn their customers for a new bill. But this is being shoved down our throats as change. Well, more of that changey hopey thing coming. Change in pricing and hope it doesn't go up any more.

Derek, permafrost, yes, things can sink but once encapsulated in ice, well, it ain't sinking anymore. The ice there is hundreds of feet thick and the phenomenon you refer to would account for maybe 10 feet. The story of the P-38s is interresting since they were able to piece together a plane that was 268 feet under the ice.

Well, I did see the effects of permafrost, I saw railroad tracks and ballast sink into it during the beginning of summer. If seeing is believing, then so be it. But you and me are on the same page in regards to Gore, brother. Talking about not practicing what you preach.

May qui! However, this argument is settled no mater how much you leader tells you so. That permafrost thing is you AC running, thats why its cool. An argument is an argument, facts on weather? Well, I can get a grant to prove panty hose causes cancer and prove it viable. Al Gore, who uses more energy and causes more of your global warming myth, uses more C02 than many house holds. If he really believed in his own direction, don't you think he would live in a cave with a stick with a fire at the end. Well provided the stick wasn't from a Redwood.

C3, it comes down to facts. As an engineer you cannot baffle me without them. When I caught the story of the planes in Greenland it totally dissproved any consideration of global warming. Realizing Al Gore was behind it doesn't take much thought as to why it is pushed. I remember global cooling being shoved on us. Then when I got to college and studied physics, I realized, how can anyone with a snane mind make such a prediction. Weather is more complicated than a nuclear bomb. If you were to take a stand on it, good luck, impossible to calculate. So in NC when we have gotten cooler over the last several years, well, even terd polish won't shine this one up. Everything Derek posts is right out of the "Shadow Party" handbook. You should go learn what they are preaching. They own Obama and they own his thoughts. Then the denial on his part comes in. Bingo!!! You looked something up and accepted the definition as fact and used it to make a point. So tell me, when obvious facts about the current admin. are presented to you and others from CREDIBLE sources(not just Fox), you blow them off as lies or refuse to accept them, why? That ranks right up there with the freeze/thaw phenomenon.

Permafrost thaws in the summer?! Why do you think its called PERMAFROST. Here's a hint; perma is short for permanantly. And I bet you talked trash on here about Sarah Palin's geography statement. Now that's funny!!

actually its easier than that. permafrost thaws in the summer, freezes in the winter. That's why houses built on permafrost are built on stilts. Not that hard to figure out.....

CCC, you should know that one, you take the metabolic rate of expansion, minus the square root of the longitutal logrithim, plus the rate of rising sun angle, divide by the temperature of the water and factor in the BS, (this is the baltic sine number, divide all of this by the temperature in Zimbabwee and you will have thaw/freeze phenomenon. Its that same formula Al Gore uses in his daily warming equivalent.

I'm still trying to figure out how ice becomes thicker but thaws and refreezes every year(thaw/freeze phenomenon). Yea, I'd say that would be a phenomenon(magical); an al gore created one, but a phenomenon non the less.

Actually Derek, "some" regulation is OK but we are experiencing over regulation in many cases. This is why so much of my industry has moved overseas, its just too expensive to produce here. This country cannot afford to add taxes on companies for carbon, there will no companies left to pay it. The reason that glaciers push down mountains is sheer weight and density of frozen water. My point is once something is incapsulated in ice, its pretty much there. Frozen stays frozen. We in NC know weather is cyclic, we have seen it with hurricanes. A lot of that comes from El Nino and la Nino effects off Ca shore. Weather is like a formula so loaded with varibles that you cannot prove or disprove anything long term and rarely short term. The hottest year in recorded history was 1934. There were very little cars being driven, cows or pigs. Incidentially, seals are glutton feeders. As long as there is a lot of fish they overeat until they have to sleep.

OSOC - thank you for correcting me. I guess I reacted without thinking, something I must have picked up while on this site. However, if planes that are encapsulated in ice don't move anywhere, why were the northern plains pushed flat during glaciation? I made the comment about the seals because the northern waters are actually getting warmer, what does that tell you? I figured storing fat is a defense against extreme cold (except for humans, for some reason) Anyways, this weather phenonmenon that is cyclical is probably true. Although, do you think that maybe putting some regulation on pollution is a good thing?

Ice that layers over the wreck over years. Planes that are encapsulated in ice, don't move anywhere. Seals get thinner by not eating? Temp has nothing to do with that. Just because its getting hot in NC are you loosing weight? Bob, you are 100% right about the warming-cooling conspiracies. Every 10 years or so, it changes. Why, because WE CANNOT CONTROL WEATHER. Ask Jim Howard (witn), he just goes with the flow. Any idiot that thinks global warming exists does it for their personal gain. Folks, look at NC weather temps, we are getting colder. I am told this is caused by global warming...whaaaatttt? How stupid do you think we are?

OSOC - yeah, heavy objects usually sink in snow and ice. its called the thaw/freeze phenomenon. So I ask you this: why are Inuit and Eskimo elders complaining about how thin seals are getting? That means arctic creatures are living in warmer environments, ie: cold water not being so cold, which means they are producing less fat. The Northwest Passage is opening up, why? Because its getting warmer. Apparently you haven't been keeping up on that information. Also, I am not a fan of Gore, he is the one jet-setting around the world, collecting awards and polluting more than more Pacific Islands put together with the amount of jet fuel he burns. BOB - just keep pretending nothing is going to happen, like a carbon monoxide leak, things will just keep getting better, right? So lets see, if you don't like the facts ignore them, cows produce 1/4 worlds methane gas, which is dangerous to man, but "the one" doesn't do anything about it and his envirnomental extremist supporters are going along with this? It switches every 10 years, the scare....its global warming then 10 years later its global cooling. Check history and see how this made up scare switches every 10 years or so!!!Yes I have traveled all over the country and out of the country and you are just an alarmist or just misguided. Hey Derek, you represent 2% of global warming by posting on WITN. The electricity you use, the car you drive and the house you heat. So get rid of everything and we will give you some credibility. I have been all over the world and have never seen these "signs" you refer to. I have been up north in Alaska many times. So, why were the P-38 aircraft found on Greenland buried under 175 feet of ice after they landed in 1945? Can you and Al Gore please explain why they were not on top of the ice? Just because you are gullible doesn't mean the rest of us are. Its a myth and scientist even admit it. The only people are the liberals that want to make money off it like your god, Al Gore.

Well, that would make sense. Imagine all of the grass they eat everyday. They can't sequester all of that carbon for too long. lol. The carbon must be recycled back into the atmosphere in the form of methane gas (CH4).
