Gov. Beverly Perdue says her energy reform plan will make North Carolina a leading state for the green economy by helping create jobs and spur investment.
Perdue discussed her renewable energy initiatives Thursday while
touring a solar panel farm in Cary operated by private software
developer SAS Institute that provides power to an electric
utility.
The governor said she'll use about $35 million in federal stimulus funds to beef up work force training in higher education, boost grants and create loans for small businesses in emerging green energy fields.
Federal recovery money also will be used to improve energy efficiency in businesses, homes and other buildings.
She also wants to transfer the State Energy Office from the
Department of Administration to the Department of Commerce.

From what I've gathered over the years, greening, while it may be eco-friendly locally, is usually eco-hostile globally. (E.g., it takes more energy to create biofuels than it does to create gasoline--biofuels just move the bio-badness somewhere else, it doesn't reduce it.) Further, greening is usually more expensive than standard processes--not a great idea in a suffering economy.
Well, it's good to hear she's "committed" to something, because it surely isn't state employees! What an idiot!
I don't have an opinion on this, but I will guarantee that she will lose out to a Republican in 2012. I will be willing to bet one-thousand dollars on that.
