Princeville, 10 Years After Floyd

Today is the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Floyd, the worst natural disaster to ever hit North Carolina. Towns were flooded, residents displaced, some forced to live in trailers for months.

A decade later we went to Princeville, one of the hardest hit areas by the storm. Princeville Mayor Delia Perkins tells WITN, Floyd devastated the area, but now 10 years later the town has rebuilt itself.

Among other things there is a new town hall, levee, and museum, plus improved housing for residents. Perkins says on this anniversary she wants residents to remember that nightmare back in 1999 and grow from it.
