Firefighters from Beaufort and Craven County were called to a wildfire in southern Beaufort County Wednesday.

Afternoon winds helped a barn fire in Chocowinity quickly spread to a freshly cut wheat field nearby. Firefighters from Vanceboro in Craven County and Bunyan and Chocowinity in Beaufort Counties tried to keep the blaze from spreading. North Carolina forestry firefighters brought in a bulldozer and plow and eventually contained the fire.

I listened to the scanner during this incident...what about also thinking they young lady on the radio that handled all those fire trucks and getting the resources? Dispatchers are the voice on that radio...maybe we should quit pointing fingers at who we didn't thank and just say...THANKS TO EVERYONE that sacrificed their time! Thanks Again! Good job to that gal on the radio...its hard to keep control with all those lights!

To you Bunyan may be worthless but at least we have the courage to be there where were you at when the community needed help. Oh and it wasn't our community and we still came. We do not get all the credit we just get noticed.

There were several other departmetns at the fire in Beaufort Count today including Blounts Creek and Clarks Neck from Beaufort County and Stokes,Black Jack from Pitt County. Bunyan receives all the credit and all the fires when they are there. The guys from these other departments worked just as hard if not harder in the effort to control this fire.
