Bob 93.3 presents American Idol Finalist Jason Castro, Wind Up Recording Artists Push Play and S-Curve Recording Artists We the Kings LIVE December 11th at Hooligans Pub and Music Hall in Jacksonville. Tickets are just $5 each with all proceeds benefiting Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids Charity.
We the Kings are: Travis Clark: Vocals, Hunter Thomsen: Guitar, Backing Vocals, Drew Thomsen: Bass, Danny Duncan: Drums The Alternative Pop-Rock Group is named after King Middle School, where all four members attended in their hometown of Bradenton, Fl. After continuing success via Internet sites such as MySpace, the group signed to S-Curve Records, who issued their debut self-titled album on October 2, 2007.The album peaked at #3 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and #151 on the Billboard 200. Their song “Check Yes Juliet” has been featured on MTV’s The Hills and the group has been nominated for several VMA awards including “Best New Group” and “Best Pop Video”. Their second album “Smile Kid” hits stores December 8th, which includes the lead single “Heaven Can Wait” currently climbing the National charts approaching #30.
Jason Castro- With his warm, evocative vocals and distinctive charisma, Jason Castro has already earned bountiful acclaim and a fervent fan following. The Texas-based tunesmith – best known as the third runner-up on the 2008 season of Fox’s American Idol – is now hard at work on his hugely anticipated debut album, set for release on Atlantic Records later this year. A multi-talented singer and guitarist, Jason was among the most popular and talented artists in American Idol history, entering the record books as the first contestant to play an instrument on the show. His performance of the Leonard Cohen-penned classic "Hallelujah" proved such an audience favorite that the late, great Jeff Buckley’s rendition of the song hit 1 on the iTunes chart the following week, selling an astonishing 178,000 digital singles. Jason scored a chart-topping single of his own a few weeks later with his interpretation of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," which also hit 1 on iTunes after a show-stopping performance of the song on American Idol. Upon the season’s conclusion, Castro was among the stars of the hugely successful "American Idols LIVE! Tour 2008."
Push Play formed in Long Island, NY. The band consists of CJ Baran (lead singer, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Steve Scarola (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Nick Deturris (bass) and Derek Ries (drums). The band have built up their following using MySpace and iTunes. As the four unknowns left the confines of their comfort zone, they harnessed the power of the Internet to launch legions of supporters, delivering hordes of adoring fans in markets hundreds of miles from home. These regional fan clubs built a swell that across the board delivered packed houses with little or no radio play. The new material shows amazing growth for Push Play. The lead single, “Midnight Romeo” is the most scandalous song on the album. It centers around what is on the mind of every teenager in America. Another track, “Start Again,” is a power ballad in the purest sense. The lyrical content is deep, offering the hopes of redemption in going back to the moment of indiscretion, where the mess-ups began. The material on the nationally distributed debut FOUND shares themes significant in the lives of the band’s fans and their own with insight surprisingly clear from four young men.
Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids is a non-profit 501(c)3 charity, created by morning show personalities Ace & TJ in Charlotte, North Carolina in January of 2000. The name of the organization comes from Ace & TJ's motto on their morning show, "You Grin, You're In!"
Ace & TJ's Grin Kids is designed to enhance the lives of children in our listening areas who are terminally ill and chronically handicapped, ages five through twelve, by taking them to DisneyWorld with their entire family.
Each year, Ace & TJ's Grin Kids charters a 737 to take these children, with their sibling, parents, and health care workers to DisneyWorld in Florida. Because of their special needs and financial strain, this is an experience that many of these children and families would not be able to know without the help of Ace & TJ's Grin Kids. Over the years, Ace & TJ's Grin Kids has taken over 220 Grin Kids and their families to DisneyWorld. And during the 5-day vacation, all expenses are paid, including air travel, ground transportation, Disney Park-Hopper passes, meals, hotel rooms at a Disney Resort, and Disney Dollars for souvenirs.
During the Grin Kids trip each year, the Ace & TJ Show broadcasts live from DisneyWorld and shares the stories, the excitement, the fun of the trip, allowing listeners to share in the experience of a lifetime.
Grin Kids is funded exclusively by listener donations. Some are large, some are small, but without the listeners, the "Radio Family" participating in various fundraising events, the Grin Kids trip would not be possible year to year.
