The star of "The Nanny" wants to go from playing nasally New Yawkers to succeeding Hillary Rodham Clinton in the U.S. Senate.

Publicist Jordan Brown delivered the straight line that Fran Drescher is serious about becoming the next junior senator from New York. Brown cited Drescher's experience as an actress, advocate for women's health and public diplomacy envoy for the U.S. State Department.

The 51-year-old "Saturday Night Fever" and "This is Spinal
Tap" actress joins a field headed by Caroline Kennedy and New York
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. New York Gov. David Paterson will
appoint Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's successor if she is confirmed
secretary of state in the Obama administration.

Tad, only time will tell. I fervently believe with all of my heart, that for the security of this one-time great nation and for the common good, Palin should have a full lobotamy and be rendered speechless.

Palinsux, Palin is great. My attitude is vehemently anti-obama now and surely will be after Jan 20 as well. I'm not dumb enough to fall for the "one" and his nonsense. My attitude will not be adjusted by him or you and I dare say XXX's will not be either. We will fight his political agenda before, during and after his failed presidency. By the way obamasux!

I don't think I could handle that laugh in the senate for 2 years and I doubt she could win the seat again in an election in 2010. Caroline Kennedy should get it before she does anyways. Plus, if Kennedy gets the job, I predict Biden will step down at the end of the first term for health/age and it will be Obama-Kennedy 2012.

Hey, if she were in Illinois, she might have had the oppurtunity to buy the Senate seat.

XXX, have you ever heard of something called the First Amendment? It's what we do here every day. Exercise our right to an opinion. But, you and so many like you on this page have the attitude of "You can have an opinion, as long as it's my opinion". As long as your precioius Palin is not bashed by anyone, then everything is OK. We, who don't along with the mainstream and actually have an opinion, heh, different than yours, are not the ones bringing the country down. It's those who cannot or will not accept change or are afraid of it who are. People like you and your one sided "I'm right, everyone else is wrong" attitude. People like you need an attitude adjustment. I'm sure, starting at 12:01PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2009, you will.

I have nothing against Ms Drescher, but being 51, hot and a cancer survivor doesn't qualify her for the Senate. But when has qualifications ever mattered...

XXX, some airheads watched clips of Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey on mainstream news shows and thought it was Sarah Palin. We have to forgive them, they're just not bright enough to know the difference between the person and impersonater. Good point "C".

To palinsux : Do you know Palin personally? Do you FACTUALLY know anything about her other than what the biased media has said about her? I doubt you do. You're sad. People like you are bringing this country down to a new lower level everday.

Fran is a hottie! She looks awesome for 51, and being a cancer survivor, I really respect and like her. Look at this way. If Al Lewis, aka Granpa Munster, ran for Governor of New York, why not?

Wow! This is great! a possibility of a U.S. Senator who has admitted publicly that she doesn't wear "underwear". Smoooooth! She'd have Bill Clinton's vote.

So, let me get this straight...her experience as an actress, women's health advocate and "public diplomacy envoy" qualifies her to be a senator ? Heck, FORGET the senate job... all she needs now is some time as a community organizer and she can have the White House in 2012 !

Posted by: Tad Location: Jamesville on Dec 10, 2008 at 01:36 AM
Well, obama isn't qualified to be president, you may as well have an unqualified senator as well.

Posted by: ??? Location: NC on Dec 9, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Well at least she is easier on the eyes than Hillary.

Posted by: Palinsux Location: All Over on Dec 9, 2008 at 08:30 PM
This is all we need. But, personally, I'd rather see her in Washington than The Alakan Airhead any day.
