Goldsboro's Paramount Theatre Releases 2008/2009 Schedule Save Email Print

The Paramount Theatre in Goldsboro is hosting a diverse and talented group of performers for its very first Performing Arts Series!

Starting the season off on Saturday, November 8th is one of America’s most popular piano artists, Emile Pandolfi. Emile has perfected the art of performance with his luxurious variety of Broadway and classical arrangements and legendary audience appeal. It has been said that Emile plays in a “free-flowing, emotional manner that seems to go to the music’s very soul” (Stereophile Magazine.) Show begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $22/general admission, $15/children 12 & under.

On Friday January 16th, 2009 the theatre presents playwright and actor Mike Wiley. Wiley’s own production company, Mike Wiley Productions, brings cultural awareness to audiences around the region through entertainment. The performance, One Noble Journey, is the story of Henry “Box” Brown who mailed himself to freedom in a crate labeled “This Side Up.” Wiley portrays more than 20 different historical figures from Thomas Jefferson to Cheryl Brown.

On Saturday, February 14th the performing arts series will include the Paramount’s 1st year Anniversary Gala. Like the Grand Opening, this event will boast a variety of local and national talent from many different venues. Show begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15/general admission, $12/children 12 & under.

David Wright’s Rejoice Dear Hearts – An Evening with Brother Dave Gardner will continue the series on Saturday, March 21st. Currently on a national tour, Rejoice Dear Hearts pays tribute to the long time comedian, Brother Dave, with a performance including tall tales and life lessons from some of his classic routines. Show begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15/general admission, $12/children 12 & under.

The Star-Spangled Girls round out the season on Friday, May 1st. With compiled memoirs and letters of more than 30 women, the Star-Spangled Girls highlight the patriotic tales and experiences of women in WWII. The performance includes popular songs from the early 40’s. Show begins at 7:30. Tickets are $15/general admission, $12/children 12 & under.

The Paramount, supported by the City of Goldsboro and The Paramount Theatre foundation, is a performing arts theater originally built in 1882 and reconstructed in 2008.
