The Pitt County Fair opens Monday at the Fairgrounds on Route 264 in Greenville. The gates open at 5:30 and the Midway opens at 6:15. The fair runs through Saturday, October 4th.

Message from the Fair Manager

The Pitt County Fairgrounds has already been busy this year with concerts, Boy Scouts Fund Raiser, Animated Car Show, circus, Pirate’s Beach Fest, and yard sales. Now it is time for the most important event of the year — The 2008 Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair.

Our fair theme this year: “Together at the Fair”, sets the tone for the exciting things the fair staff has in store for you at the 89th Annual Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair. The most exciting news we have is twofold. First, we are again offering Playworld Amusements for your enjoyment and entertainment on the midway. Jeff and Joyce Brady join us in the excitement of providing one of the most modern midways in the fair business. Their midway consists of 38 thrilling rides, exciting games, and a variety of food and beverage opportunities. If you missed seeing them last year, you will not want to miss this fabulous midway this year. Please join us in welcoming them to Greenville. Second, the Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair is proud to announce that Paige Laughinghouse is our official Pitt County Fair Ambassador.
We have worked very hard to “build” an exciting fair for you to enjoy. We have some great FREE entertainment lined up for your enjoyment. Once again we will have Bull Riding, and Gospel Music featuring local talent. This year’s fair will also include Racing Pigs (FREE), Dazzling Mills Family (FREE), The Carolina Girls (FREE), The Chickenman (FREE), The Shimmy Shakers (FREE), livestock,
educational exhibits, Children’s Barnyard and much, much more.
We are also excited about our second annual Pitt County Fair Community Church Choir. Churches throughout the county will come together on Tuesday, September 30, to sing songs of praise for your enjoyment. Please come out and support your local churches as we bring the community together in harmony.

My goal is to have the best local/regional fair in the state. We must work as a team in order to accomplish this. We have brought the Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair to you. Now YOU, the community, and Eastern North Carolina region citizens must do your part by participating in the Exhibit Halls, the contests, and attendance at the various FREE shows. Review all of the volumes of Department Class Listings in our Agricultural Exhibit Hall Tabloid. There’s something for everyone. If you have never entered an exhibit item, enter one this year. Encourage your friends and neighbors to participate. It is lots of fun.
Pay close attention to our advertising businesses that helped to support getting this information to you at no cost. Thank them and give them your support.

In addition to all the exciting attractions, our fair management team provides FREE parking for you each and every day of our fair week. Parking along the highway is prohibited. So bring your children, friends, and neighbors to our 89th Annual Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair. Don’t miss out on the most exciting event of the year. I look forward to seeing you there as we experience being TOGETHER AT THE FAIR!

Ken Ross, Fair Manager
