Singer Clay Aiken is confirming to the world: he's gay.

Aiken chose to let the cat out of the bag in the next issue of People magazine, which hits newsstands Tuesday. The magazine's cover shows Aiken holding his infant son, Parker Foster Aiken, with the headline:

"Yes, I'm Gay". The cover also quotes Aiken saying he "cannot raise a child to lie or hide things."

Parker's surrogate mother is Aiken's friend and record producer Jaymes Foster.

Tad, you obviously don't understand that God cannot be all knowing if he doesn't know what you are going to do from second to second. The end.

Posted by: Tad Location: Jamesville on Sep 27, 2008 at 09:43 PM
Jason, you were right on target until you got to the milk analogy. It makes no sense because it does not apply. The Bible makes clear that God is all knowing. He knows the number of our days, which means that he knows when we are going to die. If he knows when we will die, surely he knows what we will do between now and then. He has not predetermined your fate, you determine it by your free will. He just knows what you are going to do before you do it. Essentially, he let's you fail to go to heaven if that is what your will leads you to do. Yes, he let's evil people do evil things if that is their will, but they will be accountable to him as well as our justice system. He does not choose your path but he knows the path you will take. If you are uncomfortable with your choices, change them. Of course, he already knows what you will decide and when you will decide it. By the way Jason, the God I'm "describing" is the only one. God is loving, just, and will mete out punishment

Hey obama 08 for Prez, haven't heard from you in a while. Although my last comment was not for you, since you feel your cage has been rattled, I'll try to help you to understand things again. According to your theory of everyone looking out for themselves leaving others to do whatever they want with no warning of what could result, pastors should all stop pastoring. A pastor's duty, as directed by the Bible (God's Word), is to guide the congregation and point out sin. Lay Christians are held to the same obligation to confess knowing Christ without shame and to tell his truth to others. Anyone who abides in the sin of others is just as guilty as the one who commits the sin. That being said, I too have gay friends who I love very much, but they know that I do not agree with their so called lifestyle choice. Hate the sin, but love the sinner means just that. The sin is still an abomination to God and the sinner will be held accountable. Those who abide in sin are also accountable.

Thanks Obama I did not know Gluttony was a sin. I am 6ft 7 inches tall and weigh over 300lbs. Yes I am over weight, but I can bench press over 250 lbs. I can also run like a rabbit. I can tackle a runner with 2 fingers. I guess I should go on a diet so I can be saved? Thank You Obama

Dave----I can't believe you have climbed that tree!!! How DARE you compare homosexuals to overweight people! I knew someone would bring this one up eventually. Being "fat" is not always a CHOICE!!! The last group of people that it is ok to make fun of is "fat" people. No one cares if you laugh at them, but don't you dare redirect your young children from seeing two guys holding hands. Where is the outrage over these people being discriminated against? The next time you see an overweight person, remember that you don't know why they are carrying extra weight. Many of them have medical conditions that cause them to be this way. This world is a big place and not everyone in it can be a size 6. Try to be a little more sensitive next time. One more thing, God didn't destroy any cities because the people who lived there.....ate too much!!!!! So, which sin do you think he sees as worse? Just a thought.

C'mon, now ... y'all know good and well that gayness ain't normal. Even the critters know that. The parts don't fit, the mechanics are all wrong, and the results ... well, there ain't no good ones, boys. Disease and despair, but nary a baby born to gay folks. Just ain't right, y'all. Ya can set yer religion to the side, and it's still easy to see ... that gay dog just won't hunt!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Sep 27, 2008 at 12:52 PM
GREAT post Obama 4 Prez! God knows that there are a ton of fat people here in Eastern NC. And how do you think he feels about it? SINNERS!

Posted by: jason on Sep 27, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Ok, so if God knows everything, and he knows the choices that you will make in your live before you are even born... then obviously he knows who will choose to be gay, who will choose to commit adultry, who will choose to commit a murder or molest a child. So therefore... even if God "didn't" force that persons hand in breaking his laws.. he did allow that person to be born. Therefore GOD allowed a person to be born.. all the while KNOWING that the person would disobey him and die... and then he punishes that person for disobeying him by sending them to burn in a lake of fire. I mean if I know that a carton of milk in my refridgerator is rotten, and I choose to drink that milk anyway, I can't get mad at the milk because it made me sick. So Tad, it seems as though the God you are describing is setting certain people up to be rewarded with an eternity of bliss, while other people are set up from the get go being doomed to burn for all eternity in despair.

LOL@Tad....I presume I'm "obama Bot" since you and I have talked about that word before. You have me confused with someone else. I never said anything about a paradox, all I've said is.........if someone treats you kind, treat them kind. That in the 5th grade I have seen children that have displayed homosexual tendencies. And if some is indeed homosexual that is between them and God, I have to worry about my own soul..........because no one else can send mine to Heaven or hell except me. If you see where I'm wrong, then please correct that. It is only MY opinion, it doesn't make it true. I am a science teacher, I only teach evolution in school. But I believe in God, and his son Jesus. Yes, I can believe one way and still teach another. I can be nice to gay people, and still not like their lifestyle. But to judge them isn't up to me. Understand my friend?

Posted by: Tad Location: Jamesville on Sep 27, 2008 at 04:20 AM
So....who is Clay Aiken again....? McCain Snake Oil "obama Bot", you are confused, there is no paradox. God is all knowing and you do have free will. In other words, he knows you are wrong now and he knows whether or not you will ever get your head out of your....well..you know where. He will not pull your head out for you but he will give you the opportunity to do it for yourself and he knows in advance if you ever will or not. Although he knows the choices you will make and the results of them, he still lets you make them.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:33 PM
You know gluttony is a sin also, yet I don't see anyone condemning fat people...excuse me...obese people! That's why I say out of business that doesn't concern me. If I'm not gay then it's not my fight. That is between Clay and his maker. Clay can't go to Heaven or hell for me. I will be judged according to my own sins, not his. Remember the 3L's to life. Live like its your last day......laugh at everything including yourself......and love everyone...even the ones who don't deserve it. You'll never have any regrets!

Posted by: McCain Snake Oil Co. on Sep 26, 2008 at 08:04 PM
So straight people are never making out in public? Groping in public? Do some of you never actually go outside? I see more straight people doing those things in public. The thing is people only focus on the things they feel are "wrong" or disgusting." Again if God is all knowing, then free will is an illusion. It is called a paradox. It is not such a hard thing to wrap our mind around. So either we have free will or we don't.

Posted by: tj Location: nc on Sep 26, 2008 at 06:12 PM
Say what you want....God is right.

What the heck has happened to our society?! Yes, I live in the South and I thank GOD for that! I am 100% Christian and completely disagree with homosexuality. We didn't used to have to put up with this in this part of the country. You expect it in the larger cities, but please tell me why every time you see a homosexual couple, they are always all over each other? Strait people don't do that. This is NOT genetic!!! I agree, Sodom and Gomorrah should have taught this world a lesson. God gives us free will so we will turn to HIM, not turn away from him. To all of you who don't believe.....please rethink it! And as far as Clay's coming out, he even said his Mom is having a VERY hard time with this. As a former fan and defender of him as just being "a nerd", I cannot in good conscience continue to be a fan. Go ahead and blast me for what I have said, but we will all see just who is right.

You know WITN has a list of links and on each one the subject matter is listed. If you look at a link and it says Clay Aiken is gay, I can bet if you go to that site people are going to be talking about being gay. I you don't like it then don't click on the link, it is as simple as that. YOU knew before you came on here we would not be talking about Politics. It looks like you need to find another web site.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:08 PM
Let me give it to you from a teacher's perspective. I teach a subject in 5th grade. And I don't know why it's more prevalent in boys than it is in girls but I can tell which boys maybe homosexual. These little guys, look different, act different, sometimes they have a different mannerism. The other boys zone in on them and call those boys terrible names. I refuse to believe a child that is 10 years old would put himself through that if it wasn't genetic. They are to young to even realize what is going on with their mind and bodies to understand the concept of homosexuality. I know some of you have seen these kids. You can look at them and tell something is different. It isn't their fault, it isn't their choice, no more than you or I choose to be black or white. Let me tell you what I do know. Stop worrying about who people sleep with, and worry about how they treat you. I know straight people who are jerks. Life is short, worry about your own soul!

Homosexuality is not a choice. Get educated. like I said, the bible says a lot of things that we consider "wrong" by today's standards. You can't pick and choose what you want to follow in the Bible. Its all or nothing.

Posted by: OldvsNewTestament Location: BibleBelt on Sep 26, 2008 at 12:57 PM
There are some very thought provoking posts here both pro and "anti" gay. We are all people and I have to agree, I know folks both straight and gay who are close-minded. All I can say is that Gos is the ultimate judge, whoever YOUR god may be (even Allah probably doesn't promote same sex sex). Let's love our neighbor and try to be empathetic with others -- no matter what, someone ALWAYS has it worse than you. Have a great weekend everyone and GO PIRATES!

Posted by: Geez Location: NC on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:04 AM
To T in Washington. Wrong!! How about the children who are not old enough to know about homosexuality, when they exhibit problems it isn't by choice.

Posted by: T Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:54 AM
I would like to say that God made no one homosexual. It is a choice not a gene that causes people to be homosexual. Yes the Bible does say judge not. It also says you are known by the fruit you bare. God loves us all but that does not mean he approves of all our choices. I have family members that are gay and I love them no less. They are my family. I pray for them and if they needed help I would help but I do not condone their lifestyle. And yes gays do judge others just like straight people judge others. I do not hate gays. They are people too. They need to be loved just like everyone else. Problem is the love they choose is an abomination to the SAvior of the world. He says it is wrong and death is the punishment for it. Look at the perversion of Sodom and Gomorrah. He destroyed those two cities for this same "lifestyle".

So, Clay has admited he is gay. Explain to me how this changes the quaility of his music or the success he has made for himself. His "closet" always had glass doors.

Man! I haven't been this shocked since Rosie and Ellen came out!

Posted by: David Location: Manteo on Sep 26, 2008 at 03:06 AM
This is really rediculous! All of these people quoting the bible like being gay is a disease. It's a way of life people! What if your family member was gay? Would you love them any less? What if your own child was gay? Would you dis-own them? Just stop for a second and listen to yourselves. Being gay is a way of life. You can't control it so you might as well accept it. I can bet that if you were to meet a gay person you will wise up enough to understand that it is not a choice.People are born with the gene. I used to feel the same exact way you feel until I met a gay couple and began to understand their way of life. They stopped my ignorance dead in its tracks. They are some of the best people I have ever met, not to mention the cleanest, loving respectful people I have ever met.Gays dont judge, they listen.Straight ignorant people dont listen, they judge! The bible teaches not to hate and thats all you are showing is pure hatred! Do you know who God would condemn? -- YOU!!!

all people sin just because you are a christian doesn't mean you don't sin everyone knows that. being a christian means that when you do sin you ask for forgivness and try not to do it again.it also means having faith in a higher power and all the miracles He created

I love when a Christian uses the (b)ible as "fact" to make their point. Well I like using the bible to back up my points too. Lets see, leviticus says homosexuality is an abominiation. What else does it say? It also says human and animal sacrifices are ok, homosexuals should be killed(then contradicts itself and says they should be exiled,) insults women, and so on. Yeah what a GREAT book. Please do not pray for me, I dont need your "help." BTW Prayer cannot work if God is all knowing. If God knows everything, then free will is an illusion. Think about it, but I doubt anybody will......

It is sad how many of you puppets on here sleep with your Bible's tucked under your arms at night. It's the Christian way though, sin 6 days a week and then go to Church every Sunday and praise God, leave church and sin all over again. HYPOCRITES!!

Posted by: what? Location: nc on Sep 25, 2008 at 03:46 PM
Love Life, I don't know who told you that sucide is an unforgiveable sin, but the Bible cleary states that the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. God does not teach us to hate the homosexual PERSON, as God Himself loves ALL people as he made them, we are to hate the SIN. Homosexuality is a spirit that satan has put on people, just as lying, stealing, drunkedness, ect, and this is against God's rules. We are not to hate anyone of God's children, even those who say he is not real, he made them too. The sad part is when they die unbelievers, they will know too.

I agree with Matt - it's just the media's way (People) of promoting homosexuality. You don't see some famous person on the cover getting applause because they're straight. That kind of stuff doesn't sell - this does. Besides look at the frenzy it's caused on all these postings. Everything from people bashing Christians to getting on WITN for having it on its site. You must have chose to read it or else you wouldn't be making a comment here.

"Just another homosexual" you've got it right. I have friends and relatives who are gay, they're some of the best folks I know and I love them dearly. I'm a straight woman and I wish I could find a man who has the sensitivity and caring that my gay friends have!

Since there is news on Clay’s sexual desires then why not go ahead and list the rest of Hollywood’s Sexual Orientation? Seriously? You could make a column about Hollywood’s sexual Orientation that way we can know everyone’s private lives. I can honestly say I have no desire to know but it seems the media has knowledge that someone cares. Go for it! Maybe it can be the ultimate career goal. Then after Hollywood’s report, go for the Men and Women of the News’s Industry, then for those who want to be in the know, will certainly be.

I believe in God and I am a homosexual. And iff you have read the bible, as I have, you might remember the part about "thou shall not judge"....hmmmm, do you remember this! What about "he or has not sinned throw the first stone" and "ALL fall short of the glory of God! I am proud of the way "God made me".Only those of us who are "homosexual" can understand that we do not have a choice in who we love! I saw a shirt one time with the perfect saying on it, "I chose to be gay the same day you chose to be straight" Think about it! And to the person who made the comment that "the end is near". Maybe you should look into some history, people have been gay "FOREVER". In fact, if you look into your family and friends, you will probably find that you know a few homosexuals. And finally, if you truly believe in "God's word" you will not need a sign. God does not give signs, he just wants you to believe without knowing if he really exists. God won't throw me to the flames for loving someone!

Hey TJ, there are thousands of belief systems in the world, even more if we consider how many there have been historically. How are you so sure that your Christian God is the correct God or if there is a god at all? It's because you grew up in the south and that's what your family/church told you that's why.

Having said that, I must say this : I guess you believe we all got here via evolution ? So I'm still waiting for one of your kind to explain to me why, if we came from monkeys, we still have monkeys ? For your sake, I truly hope you'll open your eyes to the truth of God and His word. Honestly, does anyone really care? Even if he was not from this state, who gives a darn? Is anyone else really sick and tired of Aiken, that overrated putz Ryan Seacrest and the whole "American Idol" thing? I knew it from the moment when he first stepped on American Idol. I was wondering why it hadn't been broadcasted all of this time; you know, since they get into every other star's business. Then, when the baby came up, I was like "that's just a cover-up." Well, it's good to know that he got it out in the clear now.

Posted by: McCain Snake Oil Co. on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:06 PM
First off, there is nothing wrong with the name "Clay." Second, how do you "Christians" know that God didn't create homosexuality? Because the bible says so? Be careful when quoting the bible, since it is filled with contradictions. The Christian god is a joke, the bible is a joke, and it is holding this country back. Newsflash, the bible is one BIG lie. Should we go through a list of horrible things that are deemed "acceptable" according to the bible's standards? If you followed the Bible verbatim, then you would be locked up on death row. Seriously read it and find out how loving your "god" is and notice how many human charateristics he embodies.

I love Clay. Have since American Idol. Do I care that he is gay? NO...Is it gonna cause me to stop listening to him or going to his shows? NO...Do I think people need to get over it? YES I say leave the man alone and let him live his life. Good luck to Clay and Jaymes raising little Parker (he is such a little cutie pie).

Know what gets me? It's how in our society if you stand up and say you don't approve of homosexuality, you're labeled "homophobic" or "out of touch". Not to mention what happens when you mention what the Bible has to say about it..news flash: God says it's wrong ! It's not natural ! If God made people to be this way he'd have made it to where men could get pregnant and women could get pregnant by other women! It's sick, it's against nature, God will never accept it, and neither should we! The old saying holds true: homosexuals can't reproduce;they can only recruit. May god forgive our society for calling good that which he calls an abomination.

So what he's gay. Wouldn't you say he was bi-sexual just a few months ago he had a baby born. Do people really know the meaning of gay? Gay I remember back before use to mean happy, lively. I guess you can look at it that way because gay people are very lively. Anyway...big deal Clay is Gay. Wow.....that's really Serious.

Posted by: Chris Location: Greenville on Sep 24, 2008 at 05:28 PM
I am ashamed he has to claim NC as his home state , and his singing makes me beg for nails on a blackboard.

Posted by: Neal Shlonson Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 05:26 PM
What kind of a name is Clay? Why not just name the kid Dirt or Soot. Oh wait.. this is one of those Palin kids, huh. Well, no wonder.

Clay who? Big DEAL!!!!!

Posted by: MAD Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 04:20 PM
OK why isnt the news covering all the economical distress the USA is going through? Why arent they focusing on things that would effect the people? This is of no concern to me and I am sure thousand more and the only reason I am posting is b/c it pi**es me off that they can report on someones sexuality, but cant report on worthy things!!!!! I can honestly say now I know we are headed straight to H*** as a country. GOD help us!!!!!!

Posted by: Vicki Location: Beaufort, NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 04:16 PM
Nothing seems to be private these days for anyone. The media has hounded this issue so long that he probably decided to tell his sexual preference just to stop being hounded. This should be one's own business. People need to learn to keep things behind closed doors and be curious about more priority issues. Clay Aiken does sing beautifully and I am glad he had the opportunity he did to go on American Idol. Best wishes always.

This is not news to me. I knew it when he was on American Idol. I am glad he realized he was gay. We knew already.

For those who asked, the child was conceived through invitro fertilization using a surrogate which was his friend / record producer Jaymes Foster (female).

Posted by: Bo Location: G-Ville on Sep 24, 2008 at 02:16 PM
We all knew that he was gay as soon as he walked on stage lol. Good for him. I hope he is happy now.

Posted by: David Location: Manteo on Sep 24, 2008 at 02:14 PM
Personally its no big discovery. I mean, it's been noticible since day one and besides, not only his but anyone elses sexuality preferences doesnt concern me at the least. What I am curious about is this child (his son) - Was his son the result of an attempt to hide his sexuality? Now that his "big" secret is out, I hope this child doesn't get neglected in the process. I hope his sexuality doesnt scorn this child. Other than that, any one with common sense could look at Clay and tell that he is gay and I have plenty of gay friends. His sexuality is not a big deal to me and I am not ignorant enough to be a homophobic. Everyone has a right to their own rights and beliefs. I have learned from my friends that sexuality is not a choice. You are born with it. Like straight people. Did you grow up and say - Hey I think I'll be straight?!! You were born with that genetic. So stop acting all holier than thou people.

Ding! Ding! Ding!...We have a winner!!!! Never would have guess it......................

Posted by: Matt Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Don't you guys get it? It's the news media promoting the homosexual agenda. It's ok to be gay cause Clay is right? He's somewhat popular so he's a gay pawn. I'm writing a new song for him though "from a jack to a queen". Sounds good to me.

Posted by: NotSurprised Location: My Computer on Sep 24, 2008 at 01:02 PM
His album must not be selling well--no better time than a slow-moving career to finally tell the truth!

Posted by: Dee Location: WayCo on Sep 24, 2008 at 12:54 PM
Dear Lord!!! As if the enitre world didn't already know that he's GAY! News flash Clay... you've been "out of the closet" for years. Did he really think that anyone has any question about his sexuality? I am happy for him in the respect that he is a new father. BUT, will he teach him to be gay too? Not that gay people bother me... that's their business as long as they keep their beliefs to themselves. Gotta wonder though... was that baby conceived the "OLD FASHION WAY" or invetro?

Posted by: Jack Location: Greenville on Sep 24, 2008 at 12:36 PM
I agree with Dwayne, who cares about his sexual life, I don't!

Posted by: Vickie Location: Not Clayville on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:55 AM
And why exactly does the Media think ANY of us would be surprised? If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...IT IS A DUCK.

Posted by: Red State Location: Washington Co. on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:55 AM
Well that was...unnecessary. Dude might feel like a lady, but he sure can sing. I just hope the child is raised in a happy home with plenty of love in his life.

Posted by: Fred Location: the Internet on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:45 AM
Ha! I knew it!

Posted by: bigfruitbasket Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:45 AM
To paraphrase the movie Casablanca: Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find "that there are gay people" in here! Who knew? OK, all kidding aside, how is this newsworthy?

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Oh Clay WAS in the closet? LOLOLOLOLOL! I'm more masculine than he is. I guess we are to pretend we didn't know until now..so here goes......WHAT? Clay is gay, no way, he seems so straight. His small frame and his boyish voice. I'm heart broken..boohoo :(

Posted by: Susan Location: G'Ville on Sep 24, 2008 at 11:15 AM
I have always known deep down that he was gay. Sexual preference isn't an issue for me to judge. Only God can judge. He said that he wanted to tell the truth because he felt it wrong to raise his child with a lie. Duh! don't you think this is one of the cardnial sins the Bible speaks out against. OOPS! it's not list in the 10 Commandments therefore I guess people think that its not a sin to be gay.

Posted by: Nana Location: Southern Pitt on Sep 24, 2008 at 10:12 AM
As someone who has never watched American Idol, never seen Clay perform, I think we've got bigger fish to fry these days.

Posted by: Talon Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:38 AM
I heard a rumor that Rue Paul and Boy George are gay too.

Posted by: Anne Location: Craven County on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:15 AM
Reaallly??? Thats soo OLD NEWS!

Posted by: really?? Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:14 AM
Good grief who couldn't have known this. I have no problem with gay/lesbian people but if you're that ashamed of who you are Clay you've got some soul searching to do within yourself, especially if you think the WHOLE world didn't already know this...

Posted by: Dwayne Location: Greenville on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:09 AM
I'm heterosexual. I don't expect it to make the news. Why do we care about Clay's sexual "preference".

Posted by: WOLFGANG Location: CHOCOWINITY on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:02 AM
Thank the Lord Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were not gay. They were smart in some ways. I am really good looking, I can sing, I can dance, and the Girls love me. What a life this could be? I do not understand this gay thing, but I hope Clay finds a few good men sick, sick, sick.

Posted by: zach Location: Jacksonville on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Well thank God for that. We don't care about this crap. How about reporting on some real news for once. I'm pretty sure that everyone knew this already anyway. There are to many IMPORTANT things you can report on than this. Come on WITN get with the program!!!

Editor's Note: Zach, we agree that there are many more important stories than this. However, people are clicking on this story today - A LOT.

Posted by: baffled on Sep 24, 2008 at 08:40 AM
Why does a person's sexual/gender identity always make the news in your country? Obviously Americans have some very deep rooted issues.

Must be a slow news day. Actually this isn't news at all. I believe everyone that has ever seen this gentleman on TV could sense some homosexuality. Not news!

If you couldn't tell he is gay, then you have no idea what gay is.He has clearly been gay since AMerican Idol. Is this an old story?
