STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Barack Obama has the Dead on his side again.

The Democratic presidential candidate's campaign has confirmed a long-rumored fundraising concert that will include four remaining members of the Grateful Dead at Penn State University's Bryce Jordan Center.

Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart played at a get-out-the-vote concert in February in California for the campaign.

A Pennsylvania spokeswoman for the campaign says the trio will be joined by a fourth surviving member, Bill Kruetzmann, at the Oct. 13 show in State College.

Other rockers expected to attend include members of the Allman Brothers Band. Tickets go on sale Friday.

I am a dead head and for all you uniformed people of our culture here is a little insight. We are not all tree hugging hippies. That stereo type is so typical of the people that have never been to a show. Most dead heads are in mainstream Amarica now. Like me I am a profesional with a very well paying job. Not the druged out moron you make us out to be by some of these comments. When the dead were still touring the reason most of us went to shows was the music not to get wasted as the media made it out to be like. So carefull a deadhead may be the closet type and be your boss.

Now there is a ringing endorsement.

Jerry is actually "Hell in a Bucket" since this is where Obamas chances are now with Palin on the ticket. Especially in NC since this state has been red for "decades". The liberals here in the state don't like it but it is just the way it is for president. Mainly because we are democrat but want a president with strong moral convictions. Obama and Biden are just too liberal. Hillary could have changed that in this state since she was more moderate. Moderates are electable, liberals, Kerry-Edwards-Dukakis, just won't fly. Obama is no different than Jimmy Carter in his policies. This is the denial that most have. They will not listen to Obamas own videos of who he is or what he stands for. They don't want to know, only that this is their guy....DOPES

Dead head = Obama. Welcome to a RED state.

That should be interesting...The Greatful Dead with families and their children..Are they trying to make a point in that Obama is for all people if so watch out America we are in big t-r-o-u-b-l-e!!!!

Grateful Dead supporting Obama?!? Imagine That! LOL! Ohh and by the way Republicans aren't going Crazy....I think it's funny to see Obama and his supporters grasping at straws, especially after McCain chose Palin! It's not gonna be such a "cakewalk" now is it? It's a whole new ballgame huh?!

Well , if drugged out, tree hugging, hippies like Obama; then he is just looking for a buck to raise. I wouldn't vote for anybody supported by strung out hippies. If Obama was really for the "common man" he would have fund raisers that aren't $8,000 a ticket.

I see the same old responses critcizing obama....you all are jealous and don't have a bucket to pee in for McCain support. McCain is floundering around making ridiculous choices and comments...the republican diehards are going crazy, which I think is so funny. Everyone needs to get used to Obama and Biden being #1 in the White House. Obama supporters unite and get out and vote!!!

I am now convinced that WITN so frequently has Obama stories as a header as it inevitably draws numerous responses, thus accruing web-site hits. Yes, I know, I feed it too.

So Obama is going to have a fundraising concert. Staring the Greatful Dead, and the Allman Brothers Band. Great thousands of kids and adults getting together doing drugs, and getting so drunk you won't know where you are. Welcome to a Dead & Allman Concert. Maybe he should have gotten Shania Twain or Faith Hill at least fans would be sober.

So which is more appropriate for Obama? Shakedown Street Or Hell In a Bucket?

I would have never thought such a high class band with intelligent listeners would have ever gotten the dead heads. Wow, this is the most impressive thing I have heard short of Pee Wee Hermin losing his bicycle. Now this is breaking news for Obama. Dead Heads for Obama..like the sound.
