WASHINGTON (AP) -- Paris Hilton's mother doesn't share John McCain's sense of humor.

McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, said last week that his campaign ad mocking Democrat Barack Obama with images of Hilton and singer Britney Spears was part of an attempt to inject humor into the presidential race.

On Sunday, Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton, a McCain donor, registered her disapproval.

"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Kathy Hilton said in a short article posted on the liberal Huffington Post Web site. "And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States."

The ad plays on Obama's popularity by dismissing him as a mere celebrity, like Hilton and Spears. The Obama campaign has said the ad is proof that McCain would rather launch negative attacks than debate important issues.

McCain on Friday denied that his campaign had taken a negative turn, saying, "We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it."

Kathy Hilton, however, was unpersuaded, calling the ad "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign."

Kathy Hilton and her husband donated a total of $4,600 to McCain's campaign earlier this year.

I thought it was great. A real humorous dig at the "jaunting pre-president wanna-be" Who but Obama has been riding around the world touting himself as the next president of the US? Without the press he just gdoesn't give a (darn). You say not so? He didn't visit the wounded GI's in Germany because he couldn't get them to go and take pictures of HIM with THEM. My fellow soldiers don't give a (darn) about him either. Go McCain!!!

Slight Edit

To Steve; Excellent point! I feel that way about all of Hollyweird's Bimbi. The sad thing is there is apparently a market for the coverage. It doesn't speak well about our priorities or intelligence as a nation. If there weren't a mass of mindless idiots reading all those trash periodicals like The National Enquirer and the like, we wouldn't hear about it.

Come on! We all know that what McCain is saying is the truth and nothing but the truth just like a letter I read in the Carteret County News Times from a soldier in Iraq that said Obama's little trip to Iraq was nothing more than a PR trip and he did not even shake the soldier's hands and thank them for fighting for this country. That my friend is someone just wanting a vote and I for one am not going to vote for a loser like that! Our military deserves to be respected and they deserve honor. How dare Obama go to where they are and dishonor them! I tell you another thing, not only is he a media hog but he is a baby killer too. I want to know should his wife become pregnant would he let her kill their baby at 35 weeks with partial birth abortion! I think not! As far as Kathy Hilton is concerned, she needs to get over her childish pouting!

Hey Kathy----nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. Want a definition of waste? How about the inordinate amount of time given by media to cover the exploits of your daughter? Now there is a waste of money.

To V Bush...I bet if some of these bloggers, with sense, ever read the Huffington post, they would turn Republican in a heartbeat. She posts some of most vile, anti-American crap I have ever heard. By the way, they support NOBAMA!

I agree with "who cares what Paris Hilton's Mom says." However, McCain, not the time for humor really. You are running a dirty campaign and I for one am not voting for you.

Anything that upsets Kathy Hilton has got to be good for the Republicans.LOL. I suppose she has switched her allegiance since she is posting on the Huffington Post. She surely wishes she could reclaim that 4600.00. It is surely another case of emotion over riding good sense. Would she have made an issue of it if the Republicans had not used her daughter in the commercial? Probably not.
