Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus says she is embarassed by photos of herself printed in the June issue of Vanity Fair and posted on the magazine's website.

Cyrus said in a statement that she took part in a photo shoot she expected to be "artistic," but after seeing the photos, she is embarassed. She was shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Sources say Cyrus is clothed but appears to be topless save for a sheet in one of the photos.

Recently, Cyrus has taken heat for photos circulating on the internet that show her lying next to her boyfriend with her stomach exposed, another with her top pulled down to shot a part of her bra.

People People, this is what happens when you put celebrities on pedestals. They or their parents, if they are underage, make bad decisions and then your shocked. You have to remember some people have more money then they have brains. I don't even know why this is such a big deal, next year she'll be in rehab. They are human, money doesn't make you smart. She looked drugged up in the pictures already. Some of you are giving miley and her dad to much credit. Hey it is what it is. And it is about money $$$$ .... Obama 4 Prez

The racy picture was obviously intended to boost her popularity...America loves a scandal!

You wait. She's going to be another Brittany or Lindsey. Parents who throw their kids out there in that world are asking for it.

To Michelle: What do you mean about the photographer getting her name out there? Do you know who Annie Leibovitz is? She's one of the best portrait photographers in the world. She doesn't need to "get her name out there"--It's already out there! I think the pictures are great and if Miley Cyrus is embarassed now, she won't be later.

Show business is about making money not about helping you raise your kids. Please stop giving celebrities and the media too much power. Be a role model for your own children. Show them that they can enjoy life with or without money. Help them to discover the passion and the purpose in their own lives.

I think the photo is inappropriate in the wake of all the pedophiles that continue to get outed everyday. However, It seems to me that a lot of the offended public are jealous of her celebrity, her father's celebrity, and the fact they are making money. Hypocrites! Do you work for nothing? Would you rather be rich or poor? Get on the ball and stop whining.

Personally I thought that one picture made her look like a washed out drug addict. Almost as bad was the seductive one in which she posed w/ her father.

Posted by: Michelle Location: Martin County on Apr 30, 2008 at 09:13 AM
The family knows the photographer personally. If you ask me the photographer will be the one that comes out smelling like a rose. She,the photographer, has stated that she took the photos without approval, from anyone.Sounds like a lawsuit to me. This is how the small people get their names "out there".

you know, if she had of posed in a bikini it would have been ok. i really wish the media would back off of her. she's a typical 15 year old, (ok, a rich 15 year old)(and i applaud her for that-good for her and her achievments--)i feel alot of people are so against her because they are jealous. please leave her alone. (i remember when i was 15 - how it was - not to say it was a few years back---i know, i remember, think back people on when you were younger and maybe you'll see how you were at that age)i support her and back her 100%....media just needs to lay off and stop making a mountain out of a mole hill

Its all about being popular(famous) and the money; plain and simple. Celebrities know they are being watched and that anything and everything they do could at some point become publicly revealed, including pictures. Go cry somewhere else because the rest of us have REAL concerns and issues; like trying to keep our heads above water. Besides, in 5 years she'll probably be just like L. Lohan, B. Spears, P Hilton, and the rest of the celebrity losers that the entertainment business spews out.

I love the way she takes the pictures even thought she has time to say no, her and her parents most likely looked at the pictures before they were printed and no one said no. Then when they are printed, she does an "OOPS, with her hand over her mouth, i was made to do it, i couldn't say no." Its all about publicity good or bad, as long as it sells. My teenager isn't taken those kinds of pictures, atleast around me anyway. She isn't 18 yet, when she gets 18 she can take pics for playboy, but until then mom and dad should have said no, little girls watch her. But then again my kids aren't making millions. The love of money is the root of all evil.

Hanna, is STAnding up for herself as a young tEEn. She should be commended noT belittled. I agree with- do what. All tEEn girls have fUn in front of a camerA. It doesn't givE her photographer the right to eXploit her.

The one that should be ashamed is her father who Im sure wasnt far when she was having her photos taken. She is a child. He is doing nothing but capitalizing on her. Lets face it, her career is much bigger already than his ever was.

Mom and Dad were setting back counting the cash. She will soon be a billionair. Boy thats better than her Dad did.

I really don't care about her at all. I'm not putting the pictures down or anything like that. I'm just saying, I'm sick of hearing her whine about it. She posed for the picture's so she should deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what is up w/ya'll...who the freak cares, she's 15 - stop making something out of nothing....so what, wanna make a big deal out of something make it out of the low life jamey spears---being 16 and pregnant and nick tv is still playing her show--where's the morals for that! mmmmmm leave hannah alone, i like her and my daughter likes her! go find something else to do people

Posted by: brenda on Apr 29, 2008 at 01:44 PM
Where were her parents and/ or handlers/ agents?

Posted by: David Location: Manteo on Apr 29, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Oh geeze! She is a cash in for her parents. Billy Ray and her mother doesnt care about the pictures as long as their daughter is cashing in! She knew what she was doing when she stepped in front of that camera. This girl is going to become another Britney Spears and her sister, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Courtney Love if she isnt careful. Talk about bad reputations!! I wouldn't give 5 cents for any of them! When money talks, self respect, morals and common decency walks.

Slightly Edited

It is her own fault, she should not be too awfully upset. She sat there for the photo shoot. I like Hannah Montana and my kids do to but, and thats a BIG BUT, she did this to herself. Billy Ray why didnt you do something about your 15 yr old posing like she was an adult?

Posted by: rotoina Location: bklyn on Apr 29, 2008 at 05:57 AM

PS - And she'll ugly. I don't care about that either, I just had to say it.

Posted by: LN on Apr 28, 2008 at 07:04 PM
I agree Mike. Everytime I've turned the news on TV today this is what I've heard. Am I suppose to feel sorry for her or something? Well, guess what - don't care and never will. HAHA

Posted by: Mike on Apr 28, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Isnt there anything else more important to report about.

Posted by: jr Location: greenville on Apr 28, 2008 at 04:54 PM
If you don't want to be embarassed, then don't have pictures like these taken. Are you kidding me? Doesn't say much for her parents who were supposedly ther the whole time. The more famous you are, the better chance something like this is going to go public. So why take the chance in the first place?

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 28, 2008 at 04:53 PM
Who cares about Hannah Montana!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 28, 2008 at 03:50 PM
Give me a break. ( First of all I'm ashamed for even commenting on this.) But these girls pose for these picture's and must be stupid to think they are not going to show up. And yes Tonya, she might have good morals, but this business will get, you wait and see. Of course I don't see what the big deal about this picture is. She's prob. just upset because now people see that she's not very pretty at all without her makeup.

Posted by: jo Location: greenville on Apr 28, 2008 at 03:29 PM
Where are the adults that are suppose to be protecting this child? Do they not get to view the layout before it is published. At 15 she is still legally a child. I think there should be an investigation.

Posted by: Lynn Location: Greenville on Apr 28, 2008 at 02:11 PM
Apparently Mom and Dad were of the set when the pictures were being shot. She's 15...some of the shot were accecptable for her age. Could they not see what was happening? She was right to be embarassed. This just tells youg girls it OK to look 18 or older when you're just 15. Mom and Dad need to wake up and look at the child not the $$$$.

Every time a decent young entertainer comes along with good morals, they are hurt by photographs that "happen" to show up. I wish the people who take these pictures would stop. Miley is a good clean entertainer. She's a good role model for the younger audience. Leave her alone!
