One Injured After SUV Rear-Ends Stopped School Bus

State troopers have charged the driver of an SUV that rear-ended a Pitt County school bus.

A Ford Explorer hit the bus from behind on Highway 258, north of Farmville.

The wreck happened around 2:50 p.m. on Highway 258, near Rich Road. The children on bus number 142 were from Sam Bundy Elementary and H.B. Suggs Elementary.

A teacher on the bus said a couple of students complained of injuries, but none of those injuries appear serious.

The Highway Patrol says one student was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, complaining of a headache.

A state trooper says the bus was stopped letting some children off, with its lights flashing, when the SUV struck it from behind. The driver has been charged with failure to reduce speed and to stop for a school bus. The driver said his brakes weren't working properly, so the trooper also charged him with faulty equipment.

J, if the ones injured were not sitting down. I bet "those" kids were the ones getting off the bus?!
