WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -- James Legan scored 26 points to lead six
East Carolina players in double figures in a 99-85 victory over
North Carolina-Wilmington on Wednesday night.

The Pirates (6-1) led 52-48 at halftime, then hit four straight
3-pointers to open the second half and build a 16-point cushion
over the Seahawks (3-5).

East Carolina led by 21 points with 7:49 left.
Jamar Abrams added 18 points for the Pirates, Darrius Morrow had
16, Sam Hinnant scored 13 and Chad Wynn and Brock Young chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Sophomore Chad Tomko scored a game-high 29 points for the
Seahawks. Dominique Lacy added 22 points, and Johnny Wolf finished
with 19.

UNC-Wilmington outrebounded East Carolina 38-31, but turned the
ball over 13 times.

Way to go pirates, huge road win down in Wilmington, that is a huge confidence booster, and grif, are you one of those bandwagon UNC or State fans of Williamston, a town whose county borders Pitt County, or are you just insane? Its people like you that I wish would move away from Williamston and go somewhere else, and it probably should be to the north. Shame on you for embarrasing Williamston like that.

Tarhell fan of gvegas, how about move your butt away from Greenville and go up to Chapel Hole where you belong then. Greenville is a pirate city, and we don't need more of this UNC-Duke mess. It's overrated, plus the elite basketball programs I like happen to be UCLA, Michigan St., and Kansas, but I would still pull for pirate basketball over them why? Because i am loyal to them.

The EZU basketball team would lose to the Tarheels by at least 60 points.

Way to go, Pirates on your win last night. One critque: work on defense. In the first half, it looked very sloppy. But otherwise a good game.

My comment was directed to the first, two posters.

Thank you WITN for Airing tonight's fantastic win over UNCW. That stupid tree in New York looks the same last year and the year before, Grif. Are you seriously that upset over not seeing a tree with lights on it?? Life. Get one!!

If channel 7 airs an ECU game. A tv with rabbit ears will pick up channel 17 in Raleigh pretty clear most of the time. Just disconnect the cable and put in the rabbit ears. Too easy

After weeks of getting ready for our big event, well, it was the same as every other year. I would have much rather watch ECU beat UNCW in basketball. But no, I had to watch Christmas lights light up on a tree. Wonder what the NBC people here think? Let me guess. They don't care. Oh well, I guess I'll just watch lights on a tree, rather than a good brand of basketball. Yay Christmas Lights!

Both of you above are pathetic

After weeks of anticipating NBC's Christmas at Rockefeller Center, along with all the publicity, I'm very disappointed that ECU sports will reign all of a sudden! I suppose we'll see the tree already lighted in the morning news tomorrow! Then we, in eastern NC, are supposed to wait until Sat.p.m. to see it again. Wonder what NBC constituents think of your local decision? Let me guess! All about money! NBC wasted money and time advertising the show to air on Dec. 3rd at 8:00 p.m.
