ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- Sam Hinnant scored 19 points and East
Carolina held on to defeat Winthrop 63-60 on Saturday night.

The Pirates (5-1) ended a four-game losing streak to Winthrop,
which lost only its 19th home game in the past 11 years.

After Hinnant scored to put the Pirates ahead 59-57 with 3:37
left, Winthrop (1-5) made three of four free throws to take a
one-point lead with 90 seconds on the clock.

Hinnant hit a baseline jumper, then Brock Young added a layup
with 25 seconds left to restore the Pirates' lead.

The Eagles had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but couldn't find
an open look. Winthrop led by 10 points midway through the first half but held a 32-31 lead at halftime. East Carolina led by as many as six in
the second half.

Mantoris Robinson led the Eagles with 14 points, while Cameron
Stanley and Chris Malcolm each added 10.
