GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina finally has an opponent for next Saturday's Conference USA Football Championship Game.

With its 38-35 victory at Marshall Saturday afternoon, coupled with Houston's 56-42 loss at Rice, Tulsa has punched its ticket to the fourth annual league title game. The Golden Hurricane (10-2 overall, 7-1 in C-USA play), the West Division winner, will meet the East Division champion Pirates (8-4 overall, 6-2 in C-USA) on Saturday, December 6 at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa. ESPN2 will televise the championship game live, beginning at 12 noon EST.

The game features a pair of programs who both earned Top 25 poll positions earlier this year as East Carolina knocked off nationally-ranked Virginia Tech and West Virginia to begin the season while the Golden Hurricane ran off eight straight wins to open the 2008 campaign.

East Carolina and Tulsa both enter the game with a pair of two-game winning streaks. The Pirates have won five of their last six games, which includes a 53-21 decision over UTEP in their regular season finale Friday, while the Golden Hurricane have bounced back after road losses to Arkansas and Houston with victories over Tulane and Marshall.

Tulsa, which will represent the West Division for the third time in four years, has the upper hand in the series between the two teams, winning five of seven all-time matchups - including Conference USA meetings in 2005 (45-13) and 2006 (31-10).

The Golden Hurricane have one of the top offenses in college football this season, topping the 45-point mark in eight games - including three games with more than 60 points. On the other hand, East Carolina leads the league in scoring defense (20.5 ppg) and ranks second in total defense (329.4 ypg).

Tickets are priced at $30.00 and available to purchase online at www.ECUPirates.com or via the ECU Athletics Ticket Office beginning Monday morning.

YES!!! ECU Wins and Dave will "never post on this board again"!!!! Keep your word Dave!

Posted by: deadfish Location: nc on Dec 6, 2008 at 08:30 AM
Sam from Williamston: With ALL due respect you obviously don't know the SEC very well. Yes, ECU will get [MAULED] by at least 2/3 of the SEC teams and that includes South Carolina Gamecocks coached by former Heisman trophy winner Mr. Steve Spurrier. Please research before you post. You might know the CUSA Sir you don't know the SEC. BTW I am known as a huge USC Trojans Pac-10 fan. Yes, ECU has a good baseball team and program. May I remind we are talking College FOOTBALL>End Of The Story, Sir thank you and move on. Finally ECU will NOT beat Tulsa. Good day!

MAN I can't WAIT until tomorrow afternoon!! Hey ECU fans, STAND BACK! There's a HURRICANE coming through!! HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Dec 5, 2008 at 06:55 PM
YES Barry I DID graduate from PSU!!!

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Dec 5, 2008 at 05:09 PM
Dave: I hear contradiction, please clarify: did you graduate from PSU: Yes or No? Your last post has indications that perhaps you did not, previously you have stated that you did... Why metion your cousin that "GRADUATED" from PSU, when YOU have stated that you did? Something seems malodorous. Inquiring minds wanna know. Again, did you graduate from PSU: Yes or No?

Hes right pirate, you wear pads or a helment to protect vital body parts or prevent brain damage. No need to prevent something if you already have it. Don't forget pirate to ask dave's mrs if he can play.

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Dec 4, 2008 at 05:32 PM
Let's do it ecupirate. Oh, and I won't need any pads or equipment.

Posted by: Sam Location: Williamston on Dec 4, 2008 at 03:21 PM
To hey sam, ECU would not get mauled by every SEC team, especially since ECU has had a history of getting wins over South Carolina in football who is average at SEC play, and don't forget the wins in baseball over such squads as South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, etc. The # of wins really outnumbers the # of losses in baseball. Did I forget to mention the basketball wins over SC, Ole Miss, and Georgia. The SEC would be much better than the ACC or the Big East for ECU. Dave who would you pull for in baseball I would love to know, b/c I remember ECU beating Penn State one year then straight spanked Pittsburgh the next year in baseball, and would run the table in over the Big East baseball programs.

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Dec 4, 2008 at 08:56 AM
Dave: Tell me a little more, please. Did you graduate from PSU: Yes or No?

Posted by: Big T Location: Greenville on Dec 4, 2008 at 08:54 AM
Dave is an armchair BCS master, if his wife lets him watch TV. You would need to ask her if he can come out to "play". It would depend if she was satisfied if he had finished his homework or not.

Posted by: ecupirate Location: Greenville on Dec 4, 2008 at 01:41 AM
Dave, I play football for ECU, would you like to play me in a game on one on one. I will even give you some pads and gear?

Posted by: Big T Location: greenville on Dec 3, 2008 at 02:18 PM
No Dave Ecu would not get mauled by every opponent in the SEC. A healthy pirate club would finish .500 a couple of years then begin to grow. Those opponents would increase ECU position when it comes to recruiting. That would in turn make for a better team. Playing better opponents also help how a team performs. the team is forced to "step up to the plate" if you will. I, for one, would like to see the step up to SEC or even ACC. ECU would do ok in football, well in baseball, however, basketball would be a disaster. You dont get better by playing lousy opponents. you just get good against lousy opponents. You only develop as much as you have to to win.

Lets go pirates! Take this one to the Liberty Bowl! yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Dec 3, 2008 at 10:50 AM
Barry, if you want some history of my background, here you go. I went to PSU football games with my cousin who GRADUATED from there. I ALSO went to many Pitt basketball games with my other cousin who graduated from there. THEREFORE, I have ties to BOTH schools. Thanks for reading.

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Dec 2, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Dave, Dave, Dave... so a PSU fan roots for Pitt in basketball, a team that just happens to be #3 in the nation? Nah, I won't go there on this one; I'll keep the bullets in the chamber here, this one is wayyyy too easy. (note to self: show restraint, do NOT do it.) See, I can have mercy and resist my urge to rip away when witnessing a hapless soul flail about. By the way, you wouldn't happen to be a big fan of Mansfield U. (or maybe U of P at Bradford?) too would you? Somehow, I rather doubt it...

Posted by: Hey Sam on Dec 2, 2008 at 06:38 PM
Sam if ECU was in the SEC they would get MAULED by EVERY team. I'd love to see ECU go to the Swamp in Florida and lose by 50 points.

Posted by: Sam Location: Williamston on Dec 2, 2008 at 05:05 PM
Lets get ready to whoop some of that Tulsa booty, so we can get to prove our chance of deserving to be in the SEC. ECU is based on football and baseball, and so is the SEC. ECU would fit perfectly in the mix with South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, etc. The basketball team is only going up over the next few years, so hey where can you go wrong?

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Dec 2, 2008 at 01:13 PM
Sorry John but I am a fan of the Pittsburgh Panthers in basketball. You know, the #3 team in the country? Like I said I HATE ALL NC TEAMS!!

Posted by: John Location: Ayden on Dec 2, 2008 at 12:20 PM
Dave - if you hate local teams, then why don't you make any comments about the Carolina basketball team? Could it be due to the fact that your beloved Nittany Lions haven't received ANY votes for the top 25? The only white out the Penn St. basketball squad can get at one of their games is from the television stations not airing them....nothing but snow on the screen. Not so great when the shoe is on the other foot, huh? Go Pirates....Beat Tulsa!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Dec 1, 2008 at 07:06 PM
I am convinced that the WITN Mods hate me because they break their rules when it comes to professional posts. I am not complaining, just merely stating a fact.

Posted by: Big T Location: greenville on Dec 1, 2008 at 02:39 PM
I hope that ECU beats Tulsa, not only because I love ECU but, according to dave, that will shut him up. If we treated dave like his (wife, girlfriend, fiance?) does that would be no fun. He does EXACTLY what she tells him to do. Crrrraaaaccckk! (The sound of dave's..."whip" echos across the air waves)

Posted by: The Pirate Lady Location: Grimesland on Dec 1, 2008 at 10:49 AM
I don't know, I kinda like Dave. He fuels my Pirate Passion, lol. But I do agree, he is a message board troll.

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Nov 30, 2008 at 12:09 PM
joepirate: you have indeed figured out Dave's modus operandi. He has the intellectual and emotional fortitude of an adolescent. Fitting, as he lives here, according to his own prior posting, at the charity of the family of his girlfriend (fiance maybe). Meanwhile, he attends ECU as this is where said family resides. Meanwhile, he attacks the school and the region See the irony? Dave can't, I assure you. He does not respond to serious inquiries, either gently sought or outright calling him out. He is, by definition, a message board troll.

Posted by: joepirate Location: greenville on Nov 30, 2008 at 08:46 AM
i am quickly learning that dave is similar to a 3rd grader. If he makes a ridiculous post, and you call him out, he just types some one liner like, "well it doesn't matter, the ECU plays in a crappy conference". sometimes he will even make up a quote that supposedly came from one of your posts, i.e "psu made it to the orange bowl in 2006, you know a bcs game" when clearly my entire post was about psu being in the rose bowl. just ask dave about his great utep prediction, and that will tell you all you need to know about dave.

Posted by: davesux on Nov 30, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Dave, Please move somewhere else!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Nov 29, 2008 at 09:54 PM
DK I don't like LOCAL teams! PERIOD!!

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Nov 29, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Dave: Why do you post on this board anyway? Its obvious that you dont like the Pirates. Why do you show so much attention to something you dont like?

Posted by: ECU BSN Location: Raleigh on Nov 29, 2008 at 09:22 PM
GO PIRATES!! WE BELIEVE!!!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Nov 29, 2008 at 09:00 PM
If ECU beats THE GOLDEN HURRICANE I will NEVER EVER EVER post on this board again!!

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Nov 29, 2008 at 08:48 PM
ECU is going to get "ROCKED LIKE A HURRICAINE!" GOOOOOOO Tulsa!!!!
