One e-mail is stirring some controversy between two competing bookstores on and off the East Carolina Campus.

Wanda Scarborough with Dowdy Student Stores at ECU says an e-mail was sent to university professors from competing company, beat the bookstore, claiming Dowdy did not have chem 1151 lab manuals in stock. However, Scarborough says the lab books were indeed in stock. She says beat the bookstore intentionally put out this false information in order to boost sales.

Scarborough says, in fact two shipments of the lab manuals were sent to dowdy around the time of the email. Owners of beat the bookstore did not want to go on camera, but told WITN's Audrey Washington off camera, that a staff member did send the email.
