A dispute between a husband and wife lands one in the hospital after being shot.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office says it happened in Sneads Ferry around 2:30 in the morning.

Deputies say the husband had threatened his wife with a shotgun at which time the wife then shot her husband once in the chest.

He was taken to New Hanover Regional Hospital and is currently recovering. No names or charges have been released at this time.

I taught my sister to shoot when she was in high school. I taught my daughter to shoot last summer. I intend on teaching my granddaughter to shoot when she's old enough. If more women would arm themselves, we'd see domestic violence plummet in this country. Men who abuse women are cowards, bullies, and thugs, and only understand one thing... To quote the great Samuel Colt, "Be not afraid of any man, No matter what his size, When danger threatens, call on me, And I will Equalize."
