Olivia, ditto. I used to spend quite a bit of cash in Greenville. That ended three years ago when the crime spree escalated. It came on slowly, but has progressed about like I anticipated. Parking lot robberies(of young Mothers with small children in vehicles, and elderly ladies at the mall) were the No.1 reason I quit going. I knew then, it was going to get worse. I grew up in a large city in N.C. and it wasn't that bad. 'Course, things could have changed there also. Bottomline? I believe that 90% of crimes committed are DRUG-based; junkies is what we used to call them. People who are looking for the next fix at any cost. Junkies a.k.a. druggies do not have the same 'mind-set' average citizens have. They are clouded and sickened by the drug they are addicted to. If law-abiding citizens could get the statistics on the number of crimes committed by drug abusers, it would soon become apparent. Once addicted, always addicted too. Look at Russia's drug parks; they even supply the syringes.

The police and city council only seem to care a bout the bars downtown as far as security goes. Who cares about those of us that live here year round?

To Open carry .. having a gun is not a solve all. People dont realize that they also have to practice shooting. So just going out and buying a gun is not the solution. People need to buy guns and also practice or get training. Only after a couple of criminals get hurt because someone pulls a gun on them will they think twice about criminal endeavors.
