An elderly Newport has admitted to possessing child pornography, found after he took his PC in for repair.
George Moore faces up to 10 years in prison after his guilty plea in federal court Wednesday.
Authorities say in May 2007 the 74-year-old Moore took this personal computer into a repair business in Havelock where an employee found a number of images of children performing sexual acts.
After a search warrant, police say they found more than 10,000 sexually explicit images of children on another computer at the man's home.
Sentencing for Moore is set for February 22nd.

Looking is not as bad as the real thing? Do you really think a person looking at kiddie porn is going to be content with just watching? It can be established how long, how often, how much was intentionally down loaded to a computer. The government is not making the pictures they use to bait a pedophile with are they? Maybe you shouldn't get life for looking and yes, the makers of child porn should get really hard sentences but what kind of person would even knowingly watch a child abused for a second. What kind of person looks at a child with lust anyway.

I am reposting this; It is entirely possible to get bad things on your computer without your knowledge. Don't visit porn sites to begin with. If you go to a webpage and your antivirus signals spyware/virus, back out of the page. Run your antivirus software once a week, and visit your local newsstand if you want more explicit reading material.

Here's my 2 cents worth; I read a lot about computer viruses, maintenance, updates, downloading, etc. I can tell you that if you 'download information of any kind' it is entirely possible that you could get something on your computer you do not know about, including XXX-rated stuff; it happens all the time. The best way to prevent this is, be careful what you Google/browse for, and if your anti-virus says 'spyware/virus warning', back out of the site or hit the 'X' to close the window. If you type a search, and XXX photos/information comes up instead of 'Chicken Casserole', get outta there. Be diligent about deleting cookies/temp. files, but bottomline...don't look at porn on your computer! Go to the store and buy a mag for cripes sake! By the way, I am female and hate porn, but if you must have it, go to the news stand.
