Teen Charged With Bringing Weapons To School

A teen from Farmville was arrested Monday, after deputies say they found two weapons in his vehicle, which was parked at a school.

Matthew Warren has a January 6th court date on two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Halifax County deputies say they received complaints that weapons might be on the school grounds at Hobgood Academy. A deputy's K-9 indicated on a vehicle in the school's parking lot. Inside the 16 year old's vehicle they found a knife and a shotgun in the trunk.

Deputies remind parents and children that hunt it is unlawful to take any kind of weapon onto school property, even if it was by mistake.
