There has been an arrest for a shooting that killed one man and wounded his brother.

Bertie County Sheriff Greg Atkins tells WITN News that James Perry of Colerain is charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.

Killed at a private club early Sunday morning was Nathaniel Moody, while his brother, Tyrone, was wounded. He is still recovering at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Perry told authorities that the shooting was in self defense.

Authorities in Bertie County are investigating a weekend shooting that killed one person and wounded a second.

Sheriff Greg Atkins says the shooting happened at a nightclub in Colerain around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

Dead is 36-year-old Nathaniel Moody, while is 35-year-old brother Tyrone is at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Atkins says the two brothers got into a fight at the private club on Lua Lane, and the two were shot by a third man. The sheriff says that man claims he shot the two in self-defense and they are still investigating.

No charges have yet been filed. Tyrone Moody is in fair condition at PCMH.

My heart goes out to the victims family.Life is a mystery, if we allow satan to step in just for a few seconds he will tear us apart.Look what he done he destroyed two families at the same time. Both families were well known to each other.Everyone that know james knows something bad must had taken place. What? Icannot answer that and the dead cannot talk so let the truth be told by the survivor and hopefully James will be a free man. Love u James.

To everyone that thinks a comment section is not suppose to include opinions of each INDIVIDUAL then I say, sure! However, I would like to say that I am close to several members of the Moody family and I know Nathaniel and Tyrone personally. Surely my heart goes out to both families because each family loves their loved one just like many other family and they will miss them. However, in my readings of others comments it seems that the majority of the OPINIONS, are implying that now Nathaniel is dead he was some Godly saint. Sure the activities that went on at James Lewis' were not legal or even honest, but does that mean that he as a person was a demon. Maybe as stated several times before, people should shut up and let Valerie Asbell-Mitchell, a good friend of mine, do her job with this case and dig up ALL of the facts in everyone's past not just James Lewis'.
