Two people are facing drug charges in two separate cases in Rocky Mounty.

George Perry was arrested just after 11:00 p.m. Friday at a home on Woodland Avenue.

Police say they found 2.33 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, $197.00, and a counterfeit $10 bill during the search of the home.

Perry was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of counterfeit money. Perry received a $2,000 bond and was transported to the Edgecombe County Jail.

Also just after 11:00 p.m. Friday, another drug arrest took place on D.S. Pearl Street.

Police went to the apartment to serve a warrant on 27-year-old Tronyale Daniel and ended up arresting 23-year-old Jessie Lynch.

Police say they smelled marijuana upon their arrival, so they got a search warrant.

Officers say they found 12.28 grams of cocaine and $360.

Lynch was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Warrants were obtained on Daniel for the same narcotics charges as well as maintaining a vehicle and maintaining a dwelling. Police say Daniels may be operating a Gray 1995 Cadillac Deville, NC Registration YWZ-9143 or a Green 1998 Honda Accord, NC Registration YWZ-9254.

How is it that police smelled marijuana at the second arrest, but turned up cocaine and no pot??

WOW! Big bust in Rocky Mount.I sure hope the amount stated was a mistake,because if it is not I want some of my TAX money back.Does the Rocky Mount police department really have nothing better to do? What about a summons?I have forwarded this story to the Governors office and have asked for a cost breakdown of this arrest.

2.33 grams? doesnt that come up to around 20 dollars on the street.... you seriously arrested him for this? One counterfeit bill? SERIOUSLY... you can get that form change at a gas station.... This has to be the dummest arrest i have ever seen. dont you have anything better to do?
