A man is recovering from a shooting, and police say the gunman is behind bars in Rocky Mount.

The shooting happened just after midnight Sunday in the 900 block of New Street.

Michael Bryant, age 49, was shot. Police say the suspect is 64-year-old Phillip Edwards.

Officers say the two were riding in a car when they had a fight. Police say as Edwards drove Bryant back to New Street, Edwards pointed a .44-caliber revolver at Bryant and then shot him in the left thigh.

They say Edwards then drove Bryant around for about 30 minutes before the police were called.

Bryant was treated at Nash General Hospital and released. Edwards was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was taken to the Nash County jail under a $20,000 bond.

The reason is the e-policing that RMPD does. All releases happen at the same time, so the news outlest get all of the police information. But Rocky Mount does suck.

Does anyone else find it strange that there are three stories about Rocky Mount in a row that contain nothing positive?
