Suspect Caught In Elderly Carjacking Case

William Deontay Majette was arrested early Thursday afternoon by the Murfreesboro Police.
Majette, is now in the Washington County Detention Center under a $150-thousand dollar cash bond.

Warrants are out for a suspect in a Washington County carjacking, and the car has been recovered in Milford, Delaware.
Lawmen say 75-year-old Violet Bartley's Cadillac was found November 17.
Bartley was carjacked at a Food Lion parking lot on Highway 64 in Plymouth in October but escaped out the passenger side door.
Three warrants are out for 22-year-old William Deontay Majette of Merry Hill, North Carolina. Merry Hill is in Bertie County.
The warrants are for first degree kidnapping, armed robbery and felony larceny.
Milford, Delaware is more than 250 miles from Plymouth, where the carjacking happened.

The North Carolina Department of Corrections shows a 2007 conviction for 22-year-old William Deontay Majette for misdemeanor assault on a child in Bertie County.
Lawmen in one part of the East are still searching for the man who carjacked a 75 year-old woman at gunpoint.
Violet Bartley said she told the carjacker, "you can take my car but you not gonna take me."
Bartley says she jumped out of the passenger door while the car was moving as the suspect was beginning to take off.
Plymouth police say it happened around 2:30 p.m. in the Food Lion parking lot on Highway 64. Bartley says she knew she had to do something to get out of her car.
"I might have gotten hurt from there. I might even have gotten shot there. But maybe i could have survived both but I knew if I left with him my chances would be a lot less," said Bartley.
Police say the 2003 pearl white Cadillac Seville was last seen heading east on Highway 64.
Anyone with information is asked to call police. The car has a North Carolina tag of YPY-4290.

An elderly woman escaped an armed carjacking Friday afternoon and authorities are still looking for the gunman.
Plymouth police say it happened around 2:30 p.m. in the Food Lion parking lot on Highway 64.
They say the 75-year-old woman had just left a Chinese restaurant when a man in his 20's approached her with a handgun. The man told her to get into the car. She did, but then slid out the passenger door and the gunman took off. The woman was not hurt.
Police say the 2003 pearl white Cadillac Seville was last seen heading east on Highway 64.
The car has a North Carolina tag of YPY-4290. The gunman is described as a black man in his 20's, 5'7" to 5'8" tall. He was wearing dark clothes and had a doo rag on his head.
Anyone with information on this carjacking is urged to call Plymouth police at 252-793-4680 or Washington County Sheriff's Office at 252-793-2422.
