This is a sad and tragic situation because its something that started over something so small. The corner is a trap thats killing our young men fast. Its crazy because its really no money that is being made. The level of violence seems to get worse everyday. The young man that was shot had a brother who was killed a few years ago on that same corner and I hate to see that family going through so much.

Another one capped on the infamous corner, the block,First and Maple in Ahoskie. Ahoskie needs help the "corner" has always been trouble for fifty years one time with shot liquor and later with crack cocaine. It was a dirty little secret crack is for sale in an open air situation on the corner. Then a couple of high profile robberies and murders in town and the public outcry to do something culminated in a multi county drug task force to work only dope as well as one detective from APD to work dope. In ten years the crack peddlers have moved from the corner to Mitchell street and it is open air drug sales again. While at the same time the task force was dissolved and with three detectives on the force nobody works dope full time. The De ja vue is starting all over again demand that drugs and gang activity be worked in the town of Ahoskie not just write speeding tickets and failure to come to complete stop citations ,come on APD you sare starting to look very bad.
