Caretakers Face Extortion Charges
A married couple faces charges of extorting $110,000 from an elderly woman in Northampton County, or they threatened to let her die alone.

A married couple faces charges of extorting $110,000 from an elderly woman, or they threatened to let her die alone.
Rich Square police in Northampton County say Mary King and her husband Charlie were caretakers for 83 year-old Bessie Harper.
Police say Mary King would give Harper blank checks of hers and ask her to sign them. If she did not, the King's said they would stop helping her and make sure no one else would help her and that she would die alone.
Harper's other caretaker and power of attorney, Annie Helton, noticed a significant amount of money was missing and called police.
Police say the King's were using the money to build a house. Police also say they claim the money was a gift and that they did not get it through threats.

This is just the sickest of sick! Why must people prey on the elderly? They should be treated with the love and respect they deserve for all their years on this planet and not sickly taken advantage of and robbed. There is no punishment suitable for these 2 except exactly what they have given to this poor elderly woman right back at them in their elder years. You are right "thinker" Karma will take care of them no doubt. I hope they get jail time because I'd be willing to bet that the other prisoners don't take too well to people who mistreat dear old grandma.
I suggest that the previous people retrack their comments...If you dont know the facts how can you state your opinion. I strongly think that if the shoe was on the other foot and these were your parents or some of your loved ones your thought process would be different. Its amazing how one can judge someone without knowing them...I suggest you look in the mirror or sweep around your front door before you try to judge someone....they say karma is something to pay for...so dont wish harm on others if you dont want it done to yourself...just a thought.
