Shooting Outside Grocery Store
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting outside the Green Store on Hwy 48 outside Roanoke Rapids.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at the Green Store on Hwy 48 outside Roanoke Rapids. The call came into deputies at 3 p.m. Monday.
The victim told detectives he was in his car, trying to leave the parking lot of the grocery store, when a gunman jumped out of a gray Honda. Deputies say the gunman demanded money and shot the man in the car in the leg. After a struggle, the gunman fled the scene in the Honda.
Detectives say the victim was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville to be treated.
