Residents of one Eastern Carolina county are being told to keep their doors locked and watch out for suspicious activity after two home invasions during the past two weeks. In one of those cases the victims were beaten with a hammer and baseball bat.
The latest happened Friday night on North Road Street in Columbia. Tyrrell County deputies say the residents told them that three people broke into their home, beat two people with a hammer and baseball bat and robbed them.
The robbers are described as three black males, dressed in black pants, black shirts and masks covering the bottom of their faces.
Deputies say a similar burglary and robbery happened on August 24th on Cypress Street in Columbia.
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrests in these cases. People with information should call the Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office at 252-796-2251.

Here it is 15 days later no crime. They lurk in the dark to devour your flesh. I blame it on these churches that won't stand up.They have sexual abusers in high places. 4 in Columbia. Two have the same Pastor. Do the daughters know who they are? The Mothers know but wont tell. There's now a group called the Safety something or other. Will they tell? All they do is get more money so the Sheriff's dept can get new cars. What about enforcing the Law? What about protecting the citizens? This place keeps things under the rug and crys later. Everyone should gossip about what they see and hear. Be the eyes and ears of this Sodom and Gomorrah." Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing. and bewrayeth it not."Pv 29:24
First, I would like to say how sorry that I am for the victim. I pray that you are recovering from the physical and mental anguish that you have endured through this. Columbia is a very nice place to live and please don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. Their wrong doing will one day find them out-it may not be soon enough for the victim or the residents of Tyrrell County, but it will happen. I pray for the victim as well as for the perpetrators. Guys, you need help!!!Don't ruin our town with your crime!
