Murder Charge Dropped Against Bertie County Man
A murder charge has been dropped against Horace Sessoms who was accused of killing a registered sex offender last month.

A murder charge has been dropped against a man who was accused of killing a registered sex offender last month.
The Bertie County Clerk of Courts Office confirms that a murder charge against Horace Sessoms was dropped Wednesday. Sessoms, who was arrested August 24th, was released from jail.
Sessoms was accused of killing Willie Bell. The 36-year-old man's body was found on Farless Road near Merry Hill.
Sheriff Greg Atikins says the District Attorney's Office dropped the charge after a preliminary autopsy showed conflicting information.
Atkins says Sessoms was arrested based on a witness account of what happened.
The sheriff says since a judge didn't drop the charge, that means Sessoms could be charged again at a later date. Atkins says they are still waiting for the final toxicology reports to come in on the autopsy.
Bell was a registered sex offender, convicted in 2005 for taking indecent liberties with a minor.
