Memorial services are planned for a woman whose death deputies call "suspicious."

Authorities say Teresea Foster, age 51, had a single gunshot wound to the head and was on fire when deputies found her body outside her home in the Pitt County town of Stokes Saturday.

Records show another resident of her Sweet Gum Grove Church home, Clinton Arthur Ridenour, was formerly certified to work as a police officer in Farmville and at ECU. Farmville police confirmed Ridenour did work with their department at one time.

Police say Foster's boyfriend told them she committed suicide. The autopsy is still pending, according to the medical examiner's office, because toxicology reports are still being processed. That could take a few weeks.

Visitation is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Funeral Service in Washington. A memorial service for Foster is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Hillside Funeral Service Chapel in Washington.

An online obituary says "Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be directed to Options for Domestic Violence, PO Box 1353, Washington, NC 27889."

Original Story

Pitt County deputies are calling the death of a woman over the weekend as suspicious.

51-year-old Teresea Foster of Stokes had a single gun shot wound to the head and was on fire when deputies responded to a call from her boyfriend Saturday afternoon. They found her body outside of the home.

It happened on Sweet Gum Road outside of Stokes. Deputies say the boyfriend told them the woman committed suicide.

Deputies say they are awaiting autopsy results from the medical examiner's office until proceeding any further.

I am so sorry. The death of a loved one is difficult to put into words, and I know from my experiences with this, that it is never forgotten. God bless you, and may many angels hold the pieces of your hearts together. I truly know how you feel.

I am so sad and sorry for this family. I truly hope justice will soon prevail. I pray the truth that seems so obvious will soon be proven. I pray you have all the people in every police and investigative departments hopefully experts that can see through any deceptions and this family can have some sense of closure even though there will always be a piece of their hearts missing. God bless all of Tereseas family members.

I cannot tell you all the sadness I feel when I look at Tereseas picture. Let me give you all a little insight into this woman that so many people have commented on. My name is Brandy and I am Tereseas step daughter. She married my father when I was 5 years old and from that point on, loved me as if I were her own. She always made a concious effort to get along with my biological mother and she was the peacekeeper in many ways. She never made me feel like I was anything but her own child. Her blood. She was a gentle spirit and a kind soul. She was a wonderful grandmother to my children. Just as she spent her life protecting me, I have tried to do the same for them. But please tell me, how do you explain to your kids that their grandmother was shot in the head and set on fire and nobody is being held accountable? If your speeding you get a ticket. If you park your car on the wrong side of the street you get a ticket. So how is it that you kill someone and nothing happens?
