A multi-state manhunt is underway for a man wanted in connection with dumping a Carteret County man's body in West Virginia

Erick Deickman faces a charge of felony concealment of a deceased body. Deputies say Deickman was the victim's former roommate.

The body of Andrew Mulvany Jr. of Morehead City was found in a large trash can on Interstate 64 outside of Huntington back in late April.

Cabell County, WV Sheriff Tom McComas says deputies are not sure of Deickman's whereabouts at this time. McComas says the investigation has led his deputies to several locations.

"We have sent detectives to Baltimore, Maryland. We have sent detectives to Doddridge County, West Virginia, Jane Lew, West Virginia, two other cities in West Virginia," Sheriff McComas told reporters at a news conference.

McComas says Deickman was developed early in the investigation as a person of interest by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office.

Deickman is believed to be driving a 1998 red Dodge Caravan with North Carolina tags WNW-1598.

The arrest warrant on file at the Cabell County Courthouse states that Deickman told a family member "he had a body in the back of his van and evidence was obtained showing Deickman was in Cabell County, West Virginia, during the time of the discovery of Mulvany's body."

Department of Correction records show Deickman has a prior criminal record. In 1997 he was convicted from Wilson County for misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and then in 1998 from Craven County for child abuse.

Records show the 39-year-old Deickman was given probation in both cases.

"This was a very cruel and intentional homicide," Sheriff Tom McComas said. ------------------------ All this guy got was 1 year for concealment of the body???????????? READ THE SHERRIFF'S STATEMENT ABOVE - This guy is a vicious violent 'human being', an insult to other humans to call him a human, he is despicable and a waste of air and space. Where is the justice? You may not care about who he murdered this time, but who is next on his list - you? your children? family? neighbor? friend? bank teller? store clerk? random person on the street? TO REPEAT FROM THE SHERRIFF: "This was a very cruel and intentional homicide," Sheriff Tom McComas said. How bad does it have to be for a sheriff to label it as 'VERY CRUEL"?

These 2 guys were squatters and drifters and had stiffed motels along the way. Erick obviously had very little money. These two guys were modern day vagabonds. I assume Erick disposed of the body in the manner in which he did because he was broke, on probation and out of state and did not want to draw any attention to himself. The guy probably died from a heart attack as he did have a pace maker and Erick instead of just rolling the guy out of the van into the woods, he placed him in a container. Is he an idiot for doing so? Of course he is. Is he a murderer? I don't think so.
