Driving Checkpoint Ends With At Least 70 Charges

A Governor's Highway Safety DWI Checkpoint in Eastern Carolina ended with dozens of charges, at least one DWI case and several drug charges.
The checkpoint began Friday at 10 p.m., in Sharpsburg. Sharpsburg is located between Rocky Mount and Wilson on Highway 301.
The checkpoint lasted three hours. Along with the DWI and drug charges, lawmen handed out 70 misdemeanor driving charges.
Assisting in the checkpoint were Edgecombe Sheriff's Office, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Spring Hope Police Department, Rocky Mount Police Department, NC Highway Patrol and the Wilson Police Department, as well as the Nash, Wilson, and Edgecombe County Probation/Parole and the Sharpsburg Fire Department.
The event resulted in the charging of more than 70 misdemeanor driving charges, at least 1 DWI, and several drug charges.

GPD had them a mighty checkpoint last night coming into Greenville on 264 at Hastings Ford. Seemed like a dumb spot since most of the college crowd that way uses the bus to go downtown. Then again, a college degree isn't needed to be a cop. I went thru it and they didn't really check me out but cost me some time on my nightly copperhead run.
