A teenager is accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office says MarkQ'uwale Duan Nicholson, age 16 of Enfield, stole a check out of a mailbox and called the telephone number on the check.
Lawmen say Nicholson left a message on the victim's voice mail saying he was Deputy James Matthew with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and advised the victim they needed to leave cash in the mailbox instead of a check.
Nicholson is facing charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and larceny. His next court date is May 6, 2009.

I don't see how anyone would be stupid enough to leave cash in a mailbox. That is just plain stupid.
