Sgt. John Slaughter says around 9:00 a.m. they got a call about a possible body found in Contentnea Creek. It was adjacent to the 2200 block of Willow Springs Drive.
Investigators say an autopsy will be conducted to help identify the body and say at this time it is not linked to any open investigations.
But family members of a missing Wilson woman believe the body is hers.
Earlier this week, Wilson police asked for the public's help in locating Courtney Speight, who was last seen on Saturday on Bruton Street.
Releatives tell WITN that police showed them clothing which matches what the woman was wearing.
