A veteran school superintendent here in Eastern Carolina is retiring.
Dr. Steven Taylor says he will retire at the end of June as superintendent of Wayne County Schools.
Taylor, who has been in education for the past 34 years, made the announcement today during a meeting with principals and central office staff.
The Wayne County native has been a drivers education teacher, transportation director, principal, assistant to the superintendent, personnel assistant, director of personnel services and assistant superintendent for human resources. In July 2000, Taylor was named superintendent.
