Wayne County Post 11 scored 6 unanswered runs Tuesday night en route to a 6-1, rain-shortened win over Pitt County Post 39 in the American Legion baseball playoffs. Post 11 now leads the series 2-1.
Post 39 scored first in the top of the first on a bases loaded balk. Post 11 responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed after that. Wayne County's 1-3 hitters went a combined 7 for 8 with 4 RBIs.
The game was called after the sixth inning because of rain.
The series will shift back to Winterville for game four of the series. First pitch Wednesday night will be at 7 pm at the Minges-Overton Baseball Complex.
