Troopers: Bear Struck By Vehicle Dies

A bear had to be put down in Wilson Friday night after it was struck by a vehicle and severely injured.

Troopers say the collision happened on Highway 301 near Elm City Road around midnight. No person was hurt.

Troopers say the bear weighed around 200 to 250 pounds.
