Drivers in Wilson may want to plan for extra time on the road for the next month.
The intersection of Atlantic Christian College (ACC) Drive, Raleigh Road and Corbett Avenue near the campus of Barton College will close Monday for approximately one month. Crews will begin utility work in preparation for an intersection and road improvement project.
Detour routes will be in place for traffic traveling through the area. The section of Raleigh Road between Corbett Avenue and ACC Drive and Gold Street will be open to two-lane, two-way traffic while the intersection is closed.
The closure is part of a project to convert the one-way traffic patterns on ACC Drive and Raleigh Road to two-lane, two-way patterns between Hines Street and Corbett Avenue, as well as to construct a roundabout at the intersection of ACC Drive, Raleigh Road and Corbett Avenue.
This first phase of the project is expected to last about one month. After work is complete, the intersection of ACC Drive, Raleigh Road and Corbett Avenue will close again for approximately 45 days while crews construct a roundabout.
