A convenience store clerk has been released from the hospital after being shot twice Monday night during a robbery.
Wayne County deputies say Mohammed Abbas was shot once in the shoulder and once in the arm during the robbery at the Dudley Food Mart around 10:30 p.m.
The lone gunman came into the store armed with a handgun, according to the crime report. It says Abbas opened the cash drawer and put his hands in the air. At that point the gunman laid his gun on the counter beside the cash register and the victim pulled out his own handgun and fired one shot.
The two then struggled and the 18-year-old Abbas was shot. The gunman left the store with the victim's pistol and an undetermined amount of cash.
Deputies say they do not have any suspects in the shooting.
