State Drug Counselor Accused In Hydrocodone Scheme

A state drug abuse counselor is accused of going on a shopping spree for drugs.

Goldsboro police say Kenneth Faison was arrested this morning on 16 charges of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. The 53-year-old Faison is a substance abuse counselor at the Drug Alcohol Recovery Treatment Program at Cherry, which is run by the Department of Correction.

Police say Faison took a prescription for hydrocodone, made 16 photocopies of it and then went to eight different pharmacies and got 448 pills between May 23rd and June 17th.

Faison turned himself in this morning and was released on a $15,000 unsecured bond. His court date is tomorrow.

The Department of Correction says Faison has been a worker at DART Cherry since last August and there's been no change yet in his job status.
