Police Trace Kidnapping Victim Thanks To 911 Call

A kidnapping victim's 911 call helped authorities find her and charge the woman's ex-boyfriend with abducting her.

Terence Garner of Mount Olive was charged with second degree kidnapping, domestic assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Goldsboro police say Tara Owens was kidnapped from a home on East New Hope Road Sunday afternoon.

Police say at first the woman whispered to a convenience store customer "call 911, he's going to kill me." But the man and woman had already left the store when police arrived.

Then about 30 minutes later, police say 911 got a call for help from a woman who said she had been kidnapped. The woman was able to leave her line open, and 911 was tracked her location. Wayne County deputies arrived and charged Garner with carrying a concealed weapon, who then learned the woman had been kidnapped in Goldsboro.

Garner is being held without bond.
