A group that wants to put the brakes on the effort to turn I-95 into a toll road planned a meeting for Tuesday.

The No Tolls on I-95 Coalition says the meeting is for concerned citizens, community and business leaders along the North Carolina I-95 corridor. The group says tolling of I-95 would put citizens and existing businesses at an economic disadvantage, create an additional barrier to attracting new business, put secondary roads in disrepair and create hazardous conditions for residents.

The NCDOT says a decision has not been made yet to add tolls to I-95, but it is something they are studying. They recently completed a series of public hearings and are compiling the comments from citizens.

Tuesday's meeting is at the Sleep Inn in Smithfield, which is located at 270 North Equity Drive. The meeting is from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
