Who has the best drinking water in the state? Mount Olive.
That's according to a panel of judges from the North Carolina Rural Water Association.
Mount Olive was presented with the award this week, and is now eligible to compete at the national level next spring in Washington, D.C.
The town has done extensive work to its water treatment plant and distribution system, getting funding from the North Carolina Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, the Wayne County Development Alliance, Mount Olive Pickle Company, and the town.
