We have new information on the pedestrian accident in Wayne county.
The Medical Examiner's Office at Vidant Medical Center has confirmed 12-year-old Heather Weir died from injuries. Her autopsy is scheduled for today.
First Sgt. Jerry Burton of The Highway Patrol says 12-year-old Heather Weir of Goldsboro darted across U.S. 70 at Powell Road around 9:25 last night.
Burton says 67-year-old James Brooks Of New Bern hit the child with his Ford F-150.
Weir was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Burton say Brooks was charged with Driving While Impaired.

The Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was struck on US-70 westbound in Wayne County near Goldsboro just around 9:25 pm Thursday.
All lanes were closed on the Westbound side near Powell Road as troopers investigated.
The condition or identity of the pedestrian has not been released. The road reopened late Thursday night.
