Greenville 10th Fastest Growing City In State

Greenville continues to be the largest city in Eastern Carolina, and is the 10th fastest growing city in the state.

That information is from the latest population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Greenville's population grew 1.72% to 86,017 in 2011. The 2010 census had the city at 84,562.

Jacksonville remains the second largest city in the East, at 70,801, a .93% increase. Rocky Mount was next with an estimated population of 57,433, Wilson at 49,297, followed by Goldsboro at 36,743 and New Bern with 29,899 people.

Charlotte remains the state's largest city with 751,087 people, while Raleigh is second with 416,468.
