The son of a local police officer is facing several charges after police say he stole a car and then intentionally crashed it into another vehicle.

Goldsboro Police Major Michael West tells WITN the juvenile appeared to intentionally crash a car he had stolen into another vehicle at 12:33 a.m. on September 2. The wreck happened as the victim's car was trying to leave the parking lot of the Pizza Inn off Highway 70 Bypass in Goldsboro.

Major West says the suspect is the 15 year old son of a Goldsboro police officer. The name of the suspect is not being released because of his age.

Charges against the juvenile include larceny of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing to elude arrest, assault with a deadly weapon, speeding and reckless driving.

Major West says the teen had bruising but ran from the scene. There were no visible injuries on the driver of the car the teen hit. Police said neither were taken to the hospital. The father of the teen in the car hit by the suspect told WITN his son has sustained injuries from the accident.

Police say they don't believe the suspect knew the driver of the car he intentionally crashed into.
