A police chief who used to be the top cop in an eastern Carolina town is under investigation by the SBI.
Multiple media reports say Emmett Ballree, former Mount Olive Police Chief in Wayne County, is under investigation. Ballree is currently the police chief in Boiling Springs Lake in Brunswick County.
Ballree resigned from the Mount Olive Police Department five years ago amid allegations he used a town credit card at a gas station to fill the tank of his personal vehicle. He was cleared of those accusations.
