We now know the identity and manner of death for man killed in a house fire last Friday in Wilson County.
The Sheriff's Office says they identified George Allen through medical records and the autopsy. The Medical Examiner's Office in Pitt County lists his manner of death as an Accident and the cause of death, Smoke Inhalation and Thermal Burns.
The fire happened around 4:30 a.m. February 10th in an old home off of Columbia Avenue. No utilities were hooked up to the home, which was a complete loss.
Authorities in Wilson County are investigating a deadly fire that happened early Friday morning.
Wilson police Sgt. John Slaughter says the fire was discovered around 4:30 a.m. in an old home off of Columbia Avenue.
One person was found dead inside the home and fire crews had the blaze out between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m.
While Wilson police and fire crews initially responded, it was later learned the home was located outside of the city limits. The Wilson County Sheriff's Office is now handling the investigation.
The fire marshal says no utilities were hooked up to the home, that is believed to be between 70 and 80 years old. Gordon Deno says the home is a complete loss.
