The Wilson County man who got into a standoff with authorities Monday night remains in the hospital Tuesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, authorities plan on charging Sharpsburg resident Barry Pettry with 3 counts of assault on a government official with a deadly weapon, 1 count of resist and obstructing delay, and 1 count of assault on a law enforcement officer.
Authorities say those charges will be filed once Pettry’s released from the hospital. He was taken there Monday after deputies wrestled him to the ground during a standoff. Authorities say they were originally responding to a sexual assault allegation when Pettry confronted them, armed with a handgun.
